Car Alarm Suggestions and Such
 

I am looking at installing an alarm in my 2003 WRX wagon. I am wondering if someone here can explain what a turbo timer is and why everyone is talking about them in relation to car alarms? Also what is the deal with everyone talking about getting it installed? Is it really that difficult to install yourself? I am not a mechanic, but running wire and dealing with an ECU is no big deal to me. Is there something I'm missing there?

Finally can anyone suggest a great car alarm for the wrx manual wagon? Can a manual have a remote starter?

I have a crimestopper system on my 5MT sedan...Works great...just dont leave it in gear...the crimestopper is a pretty nice system...I got it with the remote start, keyless entry, and dual zone shock sensors all for like $220...I highly recomend that system to anyone who is in the market..

any alarm from the DEI group will work great. Viper, Clifford are the best.

if you want my recommendation. get the Alpine 8063 its got double the features any alarm out there at its price range. here are the features. it features also a dash mounted LCD screen for the alarm system.

The security system doubles as a turbo timer! Multiple configurable outputs, Mobile Mayday telematics connection reports tripped sensor information to the OnGuard Response Center, CAn control Alpine head units, adjustments can be made by looking at the LCD Display (no need to count chirps or flashing LEDs, or change dip switches in the brain).
The LCD display also shows date/time of the exact tripped sensor, tells you whether or not the doors or hood/trunk were left open, BATTERY VOLTAGE, and

concerning installation. if you are a realy handy electronics person. you can do it. but if not....have a stereo store do it for you.

purchasing this alarm on the web is almost impossible...only a few places selll this. since it is a old model. but IMO it is one of the best alarm systems i've ever seen. pretty sure any stereo alarm shop out there will carry this still.

Alpine went cheap and stop producing there good stuff back in 2000 for The USA when no one was buying their stuff. all the popularity went to others.
