'06 STI in the 12s..........

What kind of street legal cat-back system would it take to get this car into the 12s without a lot of noise from the exhaust. Has anyone done this and have the results to prove it?

you arent thinking of getting in the 12's with just a CBE? are you?

Greddy EVO II cat-back is quiet and so is the Borla Hush. Both items are in stock.

To get to 12 sec in 1/4mil, you will need more than just a turbo-back system tho ;)

uh huh...........

that's what I thought. I didn't think it was possible. Someone here said that a catback and a reflash was all I'd need. Yuh, right. Actually I was wondering if a 30 or 50 hp NOS shot would be safe and do 12s too. Is there a better and cheaper way to do this?

SubyN00by 03-07-2006 07:20 AM

if you're talking about my comment, I said dp/tbe and a reflash homie

Sorry.............

didn't understand. This stuff is all Greek to me. Besides, doesn't a downpipe remove the cat and make it illegal for the street? What good is that?

SubyN00by 03-07-2006 10:08 AM

haha, how many imports do you think run twelves and are legal for the streets? Some domestics come stock from the factory with the ability to run twelves, but those silly bastids can't drive em...wait, I'm deviating.

Get a downpipe (which does remove the cats) and reflash your ecu, and you'll be setup for 12s. Doesn't mean you'll run them, I mean, I've improved my track times over a second with simply driving, same exact setup both times I went.

and from what I remember, nos isn't too street legal either...

If you are a drag racer isn't it feasible with just turboback?? i mean it damn well outta be if it wasn't for the gearing it prob would be.

SubyN00by 03-07-2006 11:29 PM

nah, the gains from the reflash are what put you in the twelves, a tune on 100 octane and you'll be deep in the 12s

impreza25rstn 03-08-2006 11:46 AM

just do what the honda's do. put 1000 stickers on your car, you get like 200hp..
lol j/k

Since when...............

.............has NOS been illegal for the street? I've had some experience with NOS and superchargers and I've run them before on my '69 Vette, '69 Chevelle and my hot rodded '82 pickup here in New England with no problem at all. I don't need to run 12s with the STI, I just wondered if it wasn't the easiest way to do it without getting into the engine's computer, etc. Besides, anything that eliminates the cat on this car WOULD be illegal, such as a turbo back or downpipe setup. Every magazine road test has these STIs in the mid 13s. I saw one today that says the '05 they tested ran a 13.3 et. Don't you think a small dose of NOS would get it into the 12s from there?
