I hear ya. Last Sat. I was cruising over to Puente Hills to see a bunch of friends and Friscos. I was late a as usual so I was in hypercruise mode. I motor past a new blue WRX from Irvine. I didn't wave, I was busy doing 90. I had to slow to merge to exit, but as a look in the rearview mirror, here comes the blue rex darting through traffic to catch up. He finally does and parks just inside my blind spot. I move a bit and notice he and his female passenger are looking at the my WRX and noting the drop ( I assume because their gaze was a bit downward). I move forward to merge to get off and he does the same. He pulls up next to me, but not far enough say I could wave or say hey or anything, just out side of my peripheral view. The light turns green he makes a right and takes off with just that hardened stare into the distance.
The week before, I was in the same area, I see an identical silver rex to mine, and he waves, I wave, I notice he needs to merge so I let him in, he waves I wave. everyone is happy, and it was the start of a good day.
oh well. to each his own.

i think my beam is set a little too high.
people from the opposite lane will throw their high beams at me as i drive by.

Eastside and SGV
You can see me driving around these areas in my 03 Silver Sedan. I'm always up for a friendly wave to other rexers, not that there are many around here.
You'll know me by the annoying harmonic vibration/rattling that is coming from the Cobb exhaust I just installed. I'm gonna have to go back under the car this weekend and see what's up with that.

I always see wrx around the alhambra/mp and sgv. The people that drive around there never wave. I usually still do it. Most the the people don't even notice your there. Never got a wave on the 10 west when i'm going to work. Don't know whats up with the subaru owner around here. I got more waves at other city with the older subaru drivers , then the young subaru drivers around here. I drive a red wrx with greddy fmic and exhaust.
I was cruising my silver rex on the 78 in the slow lane, about to exit, and a nice white rex passed by in the fast lane and honked and waved. He had out of state plates. It totally made my day. Good to see happy nice people!
datwrx....
dude i go to almansor at least twice a week to get some running or tennis in. don't think i've noticed red wrx though.
what times are you there???
as for me i drive on the 101 north to get to work and is not back until at 5:30 in the evening and sometimes later as i go to the gym at northridge.
i'll be on the look out for a red wrx next time.
btw i drive a silver rex wagon.

....And all those elitists in their Rex's (Rapid Roo not included) won't even acknowledge my existence.
I wave at all the WRX's I see, and most of the other Subaru's on the road. Sometimes I get a nice response, but most of the time, just a blank stare.

A friendly wave.
I gotta tell ya, I've been feeling the same thing, only 10 fold. I bought my rex in Hawaii. That is by far the tightest crew of subie owners around. everyone, and I mean everyone was awesome. Track day was just a blast. I've been here in San Diego for 7 months. Do you know how many waves i've gotten? 1!!! I've talked with guys if they're in a parking lot near their car, but on the road, I've only got one wave. Coming from Hawaii I don't even wave. I throw Shaka's around.
But I have Hawaii plates, so i think everyone understands.
What I think the real answer or root of the problem is... the new owners aren't getting into it for the same reason. Take a look around. The guys are younger, more agro, all about who's the bad a$$. Well I'm sorry, but I bought my Subie Wagon to have fun, but also for my family. I've done a bit of mods, but it puts me in a bad place. Do you guys know how many times my wife's been revved at while she's got my baby in the back, and I'm at sea? It'll take one dumb a$$ 2 minutes to ruin my life if they screw up and hit her.
i'm sorry for venting. I'm just a bit aggravated at the whole attitude shift. I don't like where this all has gone. Just my 2 cents.

who cares just drive your car and let other people wave, most of the people that would wave to you already know you, people that won't wave back to you are the ones that don't know anything about subaru culture and are just here now because the car is popular.
