I would like to try California Speedway when they open the full track. Who wants to go? It will be a non-speedtrial event but definitely worth the experience

kenji815 12-18-2007 10:04 AM

balls out turn 1

Turn 2 clips the in at the end since he's only on 3 wheels.

Straight up the Omega and out.

Last time me and Mike were there, we were in A group. Sure there were faster cars than us, but none of us drive track purpose or race cars however we were not slow road blocks either.

it would be nice if speed trial adopted a more clear cut schedule for their run groups. it was one thing i liked about speed ventures, their groups went on schedule all day long.

you are up in 5 mins

but if there is a crash ed you are screwed outo f your time slot?

kunfuzion 10-02-2008 04:15 PM

that's always a possibility but i'm sure they find some way to work around it.

LifePlaza 10-02-2008 04:34 PM
it would be nice if speed trial adopted a more clear cut schedule for their run groups. it was one thing i liked about speed ventures, their groups went on schedule all day long.
Well look at it from this point of view...

Speed Ventures are on off days meaning Fridays, Mondays. Sure they have a couple of events on Weekends but that's the defining factor.

STUSA are events on weekends. SpeedVentures are on off days, odds are it won't be as packed.

Another problem I have with SpeedVentures is you have to pay for an instructor and they allow open passing anywhere versus STUSA has instructors at any time and has a driving school.

People complain that with STUSA they are way strict for no reason but the matter of fact is to keep people safe on the track.

Sure SpeedVentures has a tighter schedule, they also have less people. So take your pick, take a day off run SpeedVentures for 150-170 bucks or run STUSA and pay 90-130 on a weekend.

kenji815 10-02-2008 04:37 PM

question.
Do you really need that many cross in the cage?
This cage seems a bit excessive.

yea why not? It is safety

laoba 10-02-2008 05:22 PM

i wouldn't mind paying more for less people. i've never been to a SV weekend event, so i can't comment on that. if it means anything, SV does offer a free lunch and if you go through a group buy, you get perks like free transponder rental also.... of course iclub perks with speed trial have been awesome also...
i'm not particular about what will happen with a crash and your run time, but there have been runs with STUSA where it seemed either super short or excessively long. don't get me wrong, i think tommy is a good guy and i would recommend speed trial for track days to anybody. it's just nice to see how SV runs their events.

another organizer i've been hearing about...

UberMaus 10-03-2008 08:34 AM

ya ya... MOAR!!!!!!! MOAR!!!!

kunfuzion 10-03-2008 10:15 AM

I've done a couple SV events in the past as well as Redline, TCRA and they all have their up/downs. It ultimately depends on how much experience you have and whether you're looking for instructional time or just simply track time. Rules are imposed for safety and some people just can't abide by them, that's when accidents happen. I'm sure there isn't one event holder that is better than the other, so it comes down to personal preferance.

Speedtrials has been awesome and you can't really beat the price and how they mostly schedule their events on weekends. Maybe if they can branch out to other tracks such as Cali Speedway and more Buttonwillow or big Willow. :D
