I ordered a TXS single-cat stealthback and for now hooking it up to my stock dual tip exhaust until i get the money and make up my mind on which aftermarket muffler to install. Preferntially i'd like to lean towards a quieter dual tip aftermarket muffler so it looks close to stock, but i'm open to classy looking single tips that aren't obnoxious loud melon shooters.

Among the dual tips i figured:

Stromung dual tip (my top choice)
Bosal dual tip (i heard this is on the loud side but that may be the whole bosal exhaust system)
Borla (do they make an axelback alone?)

Single tip:
Prodrive oval tip (no longer in production)
Prodrive round tip (the replacement)
Stromung single tip

anyone have other suggestions? My ideal single tip muffler would be an axelback version of the JIC Spartan DE II single tip which i think looks incredible yet understated.

All the mufflers that are sold as "axlebacks" for the wrx will fit directly. Now if they are sold as "catbacks" the muffler section alone won't fit unless you use the midpipe that it comes with, or unless you do some modifications yourself. If you like the dual tip a lot, i'd recommend you go with your first choice, the stromung. I have the prodrive round tipped exhaust myself, and i love every aspect of it, so if you decide to go with single tip, i'd recommend Prodrive.

for single tips: STi or SPT sport. Cheers

If i was going for an axelback STi would be my first choice, buy it used, IMO
