since the site crapped out (earlier this week, or last) the main page i-club.com does not work. It directs to i-club.com/forums.


Can we fix that? :newbie:

Site Redirecting to Forum page Instead of Home Page
 

Luckily I saw this thread before posting a similar topic.

Maybe change the thread title to what I titled this reply to keep it more visible to others?

Happens for me too. Although I never visit the main page.

Going directly to the forums page seems like an improvement since the 'main page' hasn't been updated in forever.

We dont need updates. The site had always been working fine before they started "improving" it

There are many reasons for updates and they are needed. :) Too many are required by Google, who has a monopoly on ads, some to address security problems and others for mobile and content reasons. Thanks.

Hi,

The 'New Posts' link shows all new posts you have not viewed, which are shown in bold. As soon as you view them they are dropped from the list. Under the 'Quick Links' drop down select 'Today's Post' which shows all posts in the last day. Does that help? Thanks!

A home page. Like almost every other forum has.

Apparently, the home page content manager bit the dust because of its age and compatibly. Keep in mind that very few people would land on the home page and those who did only clicked through to the forums. The old home page had not been updated in years and the only active rail was the 'Recent Posts'. We need up to date content to support a home page content manager. Thanks.

I was told yesterday a tech ticket was created to add Wordpress for our home page content. I have no estimate at this time, but will pass one along as soon as I'm updated.

What is wordpress and why is it being added to the front page? Can we just have the old front page back?

"WordPress is a website creation tool, it's probably the easiest and most powerful blogging and website content management system (or CMS) in existence today."

We are not on an island and it makes sense from a programming standpoint to have all IB websites on the same software versions. The old VB Advanced CMS was cumbersome, not very user friendly. The CMS on most IB sites is being changed to WordPress because of the description above. I guess the techs reached a point where they needed to remove the old code, unfortunately we were not told in advance. It should not be to long and we will have a home page back.

More importantly we need content to put on the home page. What does the community want to see on the home page? Thanks!

Some transparency on future intentions would be nice as opposed to just changing things in the night.
