We disagree. Fundamentally, the only major difference between the STi and WRX is the engine, and we do have an STi engine forum. Suspension, brake, transmission, and interior/exterior stuff all belongs in with the same info as the WRX threads.

Yeah why not divide up the community more so. I already don't get any waves from STI guys so why not make them feel like they are better because they have more money. yay!

[/rant]

What is the need if there is already a STI engine forum?

I guess I understand and would probably be in the same boat as you if I owned one. I just had to rant because I waved at 2 sti's in the last 2 days and neither one waved back. Oh well.

Good luck with the modding....Modding is teh coolness!

Us with an STi know the difference.

I still think that there should be an STi only forum. And I am sure that others with STi's would agree.
I said "fundamentally" not "specifically". While the STi does, of course, have a plethora of parts that differ from the standard WRX, once you start modding it there are relatively few differences. Brake pad choices are the same, suspension choices are the same, even engine bolt-ons are the same. The differences the two cars have aren't enough to seperate them for the purpose of discussing modifications, which is the core purpose of this site. So, if you want advice on changing your STi suspension, go to the suspension forum. If you want wheel advice, go to the wheel and tire forum. If you want to read about modded STis without being bothered by others who are merely modding WRXs, go to another forum. This is a Subaru Impreza-specific forum, which also tries to support Legacy and Forester owners. You can't say "I'm not an elitist" and then say you don't care about WRX stuff. It's the same stuff once you take off stock parts. Your STi is different in how it comes from the factory, not in its mod potential, other than the differences in the drivetrain.

I would just like to read about what others with my car have done.

1- for you to assume that one has to own an STi to know about it... well... IMO is a little ignorant. one can be a mechanic and know more about it than an actual owner. just because you own one doesn't mean you know everything about it.

2- i have an STi... and a '03 wrx as well. yes there are differences. but nothing of significance other than what BAN said. i also sell subarus so i know the differences in terms of manufacturing.

3- i see where you are coming from. but i feel there is more than enough resources.

4- visit us in the Hawaii forum- there is one guy you should look up. his name is Mach5wrx- he has an STi... and he has some nice goodies. and he knows a lot about it too.

hopefully this does not offend you, this is just my personal opinion

Don't forget that the ej25t forum has been used to see what other STI owners have done to their cars beyond just engine mods.

Everything was listed there that i could think of maybe with the expection of gauge pods. Just gander around a bit.
