Newbie Offset Question

Hi i-Club! First post here

Anyway, I was wondering about buying some 17x8 wheels with +40mm offset. I intend to drop my '02 WRX (probably Tein S-Tech springs) but I'm not sure yet. I'm relatively new to the world of wheels, and I can't seem to find any tangible way of shopping for wheels since I know so very little about them.

I guess my questions are: will 17x8 +40 offset fit comfortably on an otherwise stock '02 WRX? How much more difficult would it be with a 1-1.5" drop?

Thanks!

Without being specific to your exact scenario, here are some additional resources to consider...

I've got 17x8+35 on my WRX sedan and I had to roll rear fenders (quarter panel wheel wells), cause it was rubbing bad. But once the fenders were rolled it clears purfect, my car is not lowered but i did drive in it with 4 passengers to Bay Area and no problems. I have 225/45/17 tires. If u go with the same tire size u might have to roll rear fenders, but other than that u should be fine. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the pointers guys! I'm now leaning more towards Prodrive lowering springs, so the drop won't be quite as much. However, the wheels mentioned above will have 235/45/17 tires.

What's the best way to approach this situation? Should I go ahead and buy springs first and find wheels+tires to fit, or is this a safe combination? Seems like I'll need to roll my fenders as Vicuha did if I go with said combo.

Have you considered or looked into Swift springs? Nice drop and still offers a nice ride.

I've actually heard a lot of good things about those, so I'll look into those for sure.

I'm mostly trying to buy as many used parts as I can since I'm on a tight budget and want to accomplish as much as possible

Tein S-Techs......
Nothing good that i have heard about those, and i've put a lot of research into springs, do not go there, lol. Swift is awesome, prodrive is cool, too deep for my pocketbook though..o well.
