I really need help with my night time pics. I've never really done night time shots, so I'm having problems with processing them

I need to figure out how to get my sky to look that way. The main thing i've always hated about my pics is the sky

I love the bridge+city lights, and i LOVE the palm tree looking like a silhouette, but I wanted to add just a little bit more light onto my car for the final pic

Jeff, sometimes the problem isnt you, but the camera's hardware limitations. I used to have that problem with the noise issue with my XT as well. Theres not much you can do about it except add more light.

 

what camera do you have?? 5D?? and it good to have soft boxes...

Bring a flashlight, or an off camera speedlight and "paint" the car if you have a long exposure.

That's what I did with the pic of the church in Bodega at night, and how I found ghosts in the cemetery later on.
