so... hypothetical question time.

if you could advance your career by taking a management position on a project that you've never really worked on and doesn't interest you a whole lot, but gets you almost a 20% increase in pay, would you do it?

say management is one of your future goals, like in your 5 year plan already.

how long would this hypothetical position last? how long would you have to do that job before moving up or to something that better interests you?

Yes, I'm doing it right now for no upgrade in pay. Experience > *, it will keep you more desirable. So what if you have a ****ty few years. Think of it in long term

not sure. probaby a few years.

the position itself is interesting, but the project isn't exactly as cool as some of the others.

i suppose one could look at it as be an engineer on the cool project and make $xx,xxx per year, or be a manager on a less cool project and make upwards of $xxx,xxx per year.

lmfao, there would definitely be an upgrade in pay.

but yes, when you're starting out in your career like you are, it's a really good idea to invest extra effort for future payoff.
