Never cut or torch the coil springs to lower a car. The spring rate is determined by the height of the coil spring, as well as thickness of each coil, the spacing between the coils, etc.

Get replacement springs or coilovers that fit your needs.

look for a cheap/ used lowering spring if your budget is tight. incase you change your mind, you can put it back to stock.

People cut their springs all the time and I've never heard of anyone having problems.

Use a Die Grinder or Air Saw so you don't super heat the spring and mark the spring before you take the strut apart. Then cut. I use a 4" air or die grinder and it will cut a coil in just a few minutes. Is it as good as a lowering spring...Probably not! But if on a budget......

I am about to do the same thing to some STi springs I just put on my wagon to even out the saggy but. As for more bouncy, as long as you don't cut too much (I am cutting about 1/2 a coil) you probably wont ever feel it.

Cheers
Scott

I hope your joking... My buddy cut his springs on his Mustang and 1 year and 15,000 later the entire front end had to be rebuilt!!! I would advise you not to do it.
