Still need to get the AC charged, but i realized i didnt put up the pics of how i got to the expansion valve..

so first you have to remove the glove box. The expansion valve is behind the blower motor (black) and the white plastic sroud being pointed at by red arrows

close up of where it is

these pics shows the blower motor and white plastic removed

expansion valve circled in red

so this is everything you have to remove from the car....

to get to this..

You also have to remove the AC lines in the engine bay that connect to the E.V. at the firewall, but that was super easy. Then just reverse order to put everything back

Thanks for the expansion valve write up StupidChicken.

I think this might be my problem too. First my compressor didn't turn and I got it recharged. A few months later, compressor worked but no cold air. A shop says it's a leak in the condenser because of grime build up in one corner of it.

I'll probably try the expansion valve first.

Ya man no problem.

It was pretty simple and if you have basic wrenching skills it would be no problem to do yourself and sure beats paying LOTS of $$$ to get it done. Hardest part really was just getting the blower motor out and back in. Just takes wiggling and what not haha.

I think i got the new E.V. from Kragen for like $22?

Thanks, I'll probably pick one up tomorrow. Did you have to worry about the a/c spraying everywhere when you changed it?

Mine was pretty empty.

But I did unscrew the greenish AC cap next to the turbo and used a small screw driver to let pressure out as well.

Your supposed to take it and get the system evacuated 100% and then once the new valve is in get it charged but thats like $130 or more depending where you go.

So when I got the old expansion valve out there was a small drip of freon (was expecting that) and had a shop towel right under the valve to soak it up, but it wasnt anything major.

Then bought 1 can of the freon and had it charged and its been blowing cold since
