I have no idea. it's 2016 so I'm pretty sure it's the latest one.
it can't possibly suck any harder than this. I've driven Mazda's, Hondas, Toyotas, etc etc and not one of them is this bad.

The CVT in the Mistu Mirage rental I had was also a POS. It felt like I was driving a Corn Popper Toy.

The real bummer was how nice the OB was otherwise and the CVT just **** all over it.

Makes me think about the people that are loving their CVT WRXs.

I really wanna drive one of those. I know at least one part of it is different, the "manual" mode has 8 simulated gears so they're bound to be closer spaced

Our Outback has the same engine and transmission as Vladi's and while I'd certainly prefer a more traditional 6spd auto I don't have the same level of hate for the CVT as Vladi. I also think it has decent response to throttle inputs.

what kind of idiot thought it'd be a good idea to make a cvt simulate shifts? And it does it so terribly too. Spaces the gears out super long, so you get no accel at all, and then when it "shifts" it cuts power for a sec so you go even slower.......and jerkier. When you're driving at low throttle and then step on it to merge or change lanes or speed up, there's a full second delay while it's trying to figure out what to do, then finally drops down a gear and starts to go........except now it's too late and you're getting rear ended

i can't even fathom how this could be any worse engineered/designed than it is. It's not possibru

so now you get the worst of both worlds. The mazda 6 drives 300% better than this bucket of fail in every single way imagineable.

Acceleration - mazda by a long shot
handling - mazda by a long shot
throttle response - mazda by a long shot

literally the only thing going for the legacy are decent looks (mazda looks better) and the awd.

Come snow time this thing better be amazing in the snow, or else it's just a complete and utter failure of a car.

it does take time to get used to the cvt, i do agree with you, i hated it at the beginning, it feels like you are redlining it cuz you cant feel it changing gears. But its great to sit in traffic with and off roading in

Vladi are you still running Outback wheels and tires on your Legacy? If so you are reducing the torque to the ground with a much taller tire than stock.

Never had a CVT but I don't mind the 4EAT in the Bugeye, works great in snow. And a remote start when it's -30 is always nice.

Can still do remote start in a manual, just have to leave it parked out of gear.. which idk if I would like doing.

There is that. But not a good plan if you have a sloped driveway or street
