I did the same thing I got tossed in with a bunch of noobs then with a bunch of experts. After about the 6th or 7th game you start playing with people at your skill level

You guys need to start playing on the Forge gametype. When you press up on the D pad you become that little ball robot thang. This allows you to create and drop any item anywhere in the game. Press up on the D pad again and you go back to being MC with whatever item you dropped right in front of you. You can also drop vehicles ON opposing players making for some really fun kills. Check it out.
Also check out Theater. You can watch your entire last match from first person, 3rd person, or free roaming camera. It's f'n insane.
