Rolling Fenders

Well Im tired of hearing my tires rub whenever my car bounces enough and when I take corners. I have 17x7.5 Rota Torques in Goodyear Eagle F1 235/45ZR17 Tires:

It rubs like a fat womans t*tties and im tired of it.
Do any of you guys have fender rollers or know of the best place to rent them. Im not about to pay $300 for a fender roller that I'll use once.

Werd, we have the tool, and can clearance the back of the car. Runs ~100 for the rears.

Have you pulled out the rubber strip on the fenderwell?

I'm gonna guess that is a no, at least during the time of that picture. I think that I can see the strip along the wheel well.

Do you guys have an opening for next week. Say Thursdayish?

Damn WRX's cant even fit 7.5's without rubbing? damn I wanted to run some Dish's 7.5 up front and 8" in the rear to give off that staggered look. Hmmmmm

Is it different for STi's

sybir 06-16-2005 02:32 PM

Give us a call, I'm not sure what the schedule's looking like, as we're in the middle of a number of projects.

LookingForPower, you've got more room int he fenders for a number of reasons, but mainly becuase not only do you have the strip, your rear fenders are clearanced from the factory. I can explain better at the meet.

I would very much recommend against stagger, especially front to back. STi's understeer anyways, and that would exacerbate it, even with the same size tire. Plus, you have to rotate tires regularly to keep all 4 corners the same, otherwise you'll kill your transmission.
Tires that are the same size from different manufacturers aren't even the same in reality, and different sizes of tires would be impossible to match on a car sensitive enoughto grenade diffs when one end is even just worn more than the other.

Max Xevious 06-16-2005 02:32 PM

careful on the different widths .. it will stretch the tire and throw off your tire diameter

not too sure how much of a difference 1/2 an inch will be, but it possibly could be a problem if you are not careful

Also, note that your stockers on the '05 are 17x8, there's absolutely no reason to go narrower.

Schafer's tires are also taller than stock, which is the biggest reason for the rubbing. If they were 225/45 or 235/40 or even 245/40, I doubt they would rub, at least not as much.

Why are you running 235/45/17 on a 7.5" wide wheel?
