Dont forget the if the dash trim is not installed it cant be tuned. I guess the added angles of that said piece can change the flame path to the egr valve tossing the cam angle pick ups to sync with the tgivs which can cause really bad gas and the fart can to explode.

Since 07, the stock STI ECU incorporates an open loop delay. In simple terms, this means that any time you go into boost, the ECU keeps things very lean for 3-4 seconds and then goes very rich. Combine this with our crappy 91, and you end up pinging a good deal any time you really step on the throttle. This also causes a lot of hesitation as the ECU pulls timing trying to save the engine.

There have been plenty of completely stock 07 and 08 STI's that blew ring lands just because the owner liked to drive the car aggressively on occasion.

I'm not trying to scare anyone into anything here... just trying to warn of the potential risks associated with the newer Subaru ECU.

Thanks

So the stock ECU right now is like sand paper!!! OMG Its slowly tearing up that bad boy and he should run to you right now to fix it huh? Someone call subaru and let them know so they can send you new cars to tune, EQ saves the day and slows Subaru's warrenty claims down with a simple road tune!

Wow.. Thats reaching.. I bet you have a engine rebuild waiting for him too now because of it.?

Dont use scare tactics for increase your sales.
There are thousands of Subarus on the road running without a single problem. And they dont have the engine life saving EQ ecu treatment.

B.T.W. My car is still running just fine. And you said it was blown up and needed a tear down too..
Wow Michael, that was completely uncalled for. The OP and I have been in contact over PM for a while... I don't think I'm trying to "steal" anything .

The issues with the stock 07-08 STI ECU is widely known and is absolutely nothing new. I'm sorry you were not aware of it, but hey... no one knows everything right?

Oh and BTW, please don't put words into my mouth... I never once said your engine was "blown" or that it needed a "tear down". I simply pointed out that based on the leakdown numbers, the engine had some issues. We both agreed it was most likely in the heads and I was happy to tune your car under the mutual understanding that there are some pre-existing problems. I've tuned many cars for many customers under the same understanding and most of them are still running around without a problem. For some reason this did not work for you and the very notion that your engine had some issues greatly offended you. So you chose to take your car to SoCal to get tuned by another tuner who didn't have a problem with your leakdown results. Great, no hurt feelings here, its your car, your money, and your decision.

But for some reason you still hold a grudge... so what's the real reason? Not happy with your current tune? Wish you would have handled the situation differently in the first place? No matter the reason, please try to keep your posts relevant and keep the useless negative and false comments to a minimum.

Thanks
