Sizzler usually has a pretty good buffet.
|
I don't think I understand what kind of restaurant this is. A side grill thing with an all you can eat type deal
If you want to take her to a kick ass mexican place in midtown, check out Tres Hermanes. Outdoor eating available, great food, not too expensive. |

Like a shabu shabu place?
|
Like a shabu shabu place?
Yeah, its like Shabu Shabu, but chinese style. |
So wait...
Beats paying $$$ for fancy kitchen utensils that you'll only use once in a blue moon.
What fancy kitchen utensils are we talking about? A spatula? A spoon? A bowl? OH NOES $8! |
What fancy kitchen utensils are we talking about? A spatula? A spoon? A bowl?
OH NOES $8!
You forgot a meat fork. |
You forgot a meat fork.
god damn meat forks
|
doh. $9.25.
man, I'd soooo rather pay $20 to sit at a restaurant full of people and cook my own food and have a totally un-intimate experience with my gf. |

This is the little known secret to scoring, every time. |
Easy. We're only kidding around. Would you pay a masseuse $20 then rub your own shoulders? No.
So take your gf to Soga's or The Plumshire Inn, or Osaka Sushi. There are plenty of nice places to go in Davis. |
Wow I would have thought more people would know what this was..well, wikipedia to the rescue!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_pot It's more of a cultural thing I guess. I use to do this at home with my folks and I always thought it was fun. You guys should try it. It's something else besides the same old thing. My gf and I hit the restaurants around time all the time and we're getting kinda bored of it. She's never gone to one of tehse and I thought it'd be fun to go with her. I'm sure a lot of you love cooking but hate the prepping and cleaning, so this takes care of that. I guess sacramento and bay area are world's apart, I can't find a restaurant that does this. Oh yeah we've been together for like 5 years so there's no need to worry about impressing her with fancy dinners. this is just a fun experience. I might drive to richmond since they have one there.

To get back on topic, if you want to try the Japanese style, I think there is a Japanese restaurant around Arden that does Shabu-Shabu. I dunno how good/bad it is, cause I've never actually eaten there.
EDIT: http://maps.google.com/maps?client=firefox-a&ie=UTF8&oe=utf-8&q=shabu+shabu,+Sacramento,+CA&ll=38.585612,-121.382103&spn=0.085207,0.122395&z=13&iwloc=A&om=1 Looks like google isn't picking up any hits for Hot Pot though. Well, not relevant matches. |
You guys are un-****in-believable.
I know the OP; he's a student at UC Davis, and probably lives in a dorm. Without a kitchen. Or any cooking utensils whatsoever. What do you recommend; that he rent a fancy hotel room with a kitchenette for one night?
|

It's just that we haven't been completely overrun with asians like the BA has yet
I remember going to a place you speak of in milpitas. Had a grill and a broth bowl you could cook your food with. I remember it tasting like tobacco spit. |
i thought furley quit his job at hot pot... guess he's back to blazing up great meals
|
Are you all telling me there are places to eat other then Taco Bell?
|
Wow ok Sric, thanks for ALL your help.
|
You dont need to google shat if u want that. Only asian people (i think) know where to get that kind of meal.... it is everywhere in sac and bay, just look for small dining places (asian of course) and they should have them. For example a lot of thai restaurants have that dish. You just got to look around smaller places rather than americanized place. I'l pee-m the thread maker a place later tomorw morning after i find out where it is.
