Car crashed :(

Worse thing that can can to my car just happened tonight when some jackass loads up an unsecured couch and decides to drive his truck in the highway. Of course it somehow lands on my car damaging the front end, scraps the driver side. Air bags deploy and engine won't start. Now the fun starts with the insurance and finding the creep that started this nightmare. At the very least no one was hurt but this ******* should pay!

I usually don't post but I at least wanted to share.

That's really unfortunate man. Sucks to hear that. Luckily it didn't cause anything more than damage to your car. Hope you can get the damage covered. Good luck, keep us posted.

doggieboy09 05-18-2013 12:57 AM

Thanks, I bought some gap insurance when I bought the car new way back in 09. Hopefully the claim will be smooth.

faraco3 05-18-2013 04:49 AM

It fell on your hood?

doggieboy09 05-18-2013 03:10 PM

It fell over side somewhere and it somehow landed to the driver's side bumper (which explains why the airbag deployed driver's side and not passenger's side) then damaging the rest of the side of the car. When it happened I didn't know what was going on, its like I hit a phantom car or the engine and airbag exploded at the same time.
I didn't find out what really happened until CHP told me that a couch fell from someone's vehicle and I crashed into that.
Now I have to wait until next week to find out the damages but most likely the car is totaled even though the frames look fine.

Heedz 05-18-2013 03:23 PM

:( yeah with your airbags deploying I would expect a total :)

So unfortunate and without a responsible owner hopefully your insurance doesn't make a stink that its acts of god or whatever.

Good luck, glad you're okay.

Damn, sorry to hear, and glad you're OK. Hope something good comes out of this for you. Felt similar to you when my sportbike was just jacked last month.

I'm sorry too that your bike got stolen. How did the insurance handle it?

mistaanime 05-20-2013 12:21 PM

Dang sorry for your guys loss! Hopefully you find that creep

"LOSSES" sucks OP. seems like youre having the worst luck. none of this was caused by you. but you get the short end.

Darth Wagon 05-20-2013 01:09 PM

Good thing you bought the gap insurance. I used to work in vehicle financing and I've seen a few occasions where the gap insurance really paid off. (No pun intended.) Hopefully your auto insurance company handles things smoothly.

per/pet/ual 05-20-2013 02:12 PM

Sorry to hear that man... Sucks you have to pay for someone else's irresponsibility

State Farm handled it well and I got more than money back from the loss than I ever could have selling the bike :) Using the extra $ for subie mods. I'll buy another bike someday but not in a hurry, though it sucks being bikeless til then.

kloo413 05-20-2013 03:14 PM

Sorry to hear man! I hope your car issue is resolved quickly and smoothly.

That's really good to hear.
To me it's frustrating because I went though a lot of trouble going from Stage 2 to stock just to pass smog and pay for all the registration fees since I moved from the east coast to here. I thought about a police report since it's not my fault that a sofa was in the middle of US-50 but I didn't want points on my record. I might contact CHP to maybe find out who was responsible, but I'm more pissed off because of the endangerment I was put in.
Right now I really anxious to find out about my insurance claim.

Vladi 05-21-2013 06:51 AM

You didn't get the license plate or anything from the truck the sofa fell from? You're all on your own then. The worst part is if they don't somehow find him and get his insurance to cover this, it will be out of your insurance which means your insurance premiums will go up as a result of this. Sorry about your mishap man, that's really terrible.

Had something similar happen to my brothers lexus GS: some guy had a huge sheet of plywood fall off a truck and hit my brother. The guy just kept going. My brother gunned it and caught up to him, and had to basically force him off the road for him to stop. Finally the guy stopped and my bro forced him to wait on the side of the road for the cops and to exchange insurance info. He was trying to pretend it wasn't his fault somehow. It was ridiculous

dorifto88 05-21-2013 07:09 AM

i hope it all works out =/

doggieboy09 06-04-2013 11:31 PM

Well, I finally got the claim done the car was totaled. :(
Car was valued at a little over $21,000 with 50k miles on it. Accessport has been unmarried. Body shop agreed to remove the Perrin downpipe, TMIC in exchange for the stock and removing the Strut Tower bar.

I can't justify buying a new WRX because IMO nothing of true significances has changed between the 09 and now. Plus I don't want to redo payments on a car that I already have owned for a long time.

So I got myself a newish BRZ Limited  for LOTS under for whatever everyone is asking! I miss my WRX but I'm still sticking with Subaru.

Darth Wagon 06-05-2013 09:08 PM

Congrats on the BRZ!

doggieboy09 06-06-2013 12:20 AM

Thank you. But now I have some parts for sale if anyone is interested!

Guillermo 06-06-2013 12:44 AM

Wow, sucks the car is totalled, but congrats on the BRZ. I'd say that was a great choice in going for a new car. I hope you're enjoying it.

doggieboy09 06-06-2013 01:22 AM

I am enjoying it a lot. I miss the WRX signature rumble, aggressive acceleration, and overall character. But the BRZ is a totally different animal. Plus I have better gas mileage and a difficult to use navigation. I really couldn't see myself restarting payments on a new wrx when I had a 09 wrx stage 2 that was nearly paid off.
