Any info on the 2 white sti's at Reno Subaru Dealer?

Just got back from checking Reno out and looking at a couple of sti's at the dealer there. Did these belong to any members here or does any one know who had them before they were traded in. They were both white 2004 models, one was stock and the other had a full aps turboback and a carbon trimmed interior, but a wrx intercooler installed(sketchy)? I also looked at the black evo at the mitu dealer but didnt go for a test ride in it. Any info on any of these cars would be appreciated, I am in the market for a new toy and moving up from my 02 wrx. Thanks, Myles

You can probably find out more by asking at www.seccs.org

If you want a warranty, Skip the one with Turboback...They did some funky things to it after it was turned in..Not sure why it has a WRX intercooler? But if that's not important to you, and the price is right, you might be able to get a great deal on it. We know the former owner and he took good care of it. Not sure about the other one.

You just had to plug seccs didn't you. :p

I'd definately skip the modded one. I hate buying modded cars because then you have to deal with other peoples' screwups (WRX intercooler on an STI, etc). It's not worth the trouble.

The "stock" one was an SECCS members car. I almost bought it accept at the time it had a catless turbo back exhaust which would have been an issue with smogging. Not huge as I probably could have located a stock exhaust, but I ended up paying just slightly more for a new one. I was there last night as well and saw them both sitting there. Pretty tempting huh?

I am really considering getting a sti or evo now as long as i can get the dealer to take my trade in and not overpay for the used car. The salesman at the suby dealer really beat the piss out of the (stock white sti) during my testdrive. Like most salesmen he knew little about the car and was very eager to show me how fast it was. I threw him for a loop when I told him my wrx was faster than the sti was. He thought I was full of bull ish. Well thanks for the info guys. I looked at seccs and found little useful info there(not bashing you guys,but.....) Figured i would get more responses here. I am kind of leaning torwards a used evo, more than the sti.

Well I went back to the Mitsu dealer in Reno and drove the 03 evo, the car obviously has had a hard life already with only 8900 miles on it. It had the tires replaced (with cheap ass kuhmo's, Not the mx's) and the clutch was slipping badly. It made for a poor test drive. To top it all off they were asking $31,999, and were only willing to take 2000 off the price. They must have though that i was born yesterday. Well i left a little irritated at the finance manager there. He was a very confrontational person and was upset that I was not going to fall for all the dealer traps and pay too much for a car like a sucker would. He even had the nerve to say he had bought the car in from Kansas for 29,999. Yeah right! Well that is my rant for the day.

I meant that you could ask about those two specific cars, but they all showed up here with your answers anyway. ;)

That's why there are literally dozens and dozens of STis in Reno, but only a handful of Evos. :p

I'm sure if you post a thread on seccs.org you'll get the response you are looking for but just searching may yield some abstract and not current information.

We wouldn't know anything about those sort of happenings in this forum though. Nope, none at all...
