Hey everyone,

Been on here a long while and never made a journal, not that much of anyone does anymore. I am pretty active on IWSTI and was bored so I thought i would share on iClub. I have owned a total of three Subaru's since 2005, including my most recent STI. The first was a 2003 PSM Subaru WRX and the second a 2005 OBP Subaru STI. I sold my OBP STI to purchase a Lotus Exige S (some of you might remember) and regretted it ever since, so i sold the Lotus and bought myself another STI (05 CGM). 2014 has been a great year so far as I have been preparing my STI to compete regionally in the SCCA ASP class. I was on the freeway the other day and went to pass somebody and my car revved up but didnt go anywhere...So I went to the guys at MASiPerformance and have them check out my clutch for me. This is what we found :lol:

So we decided it was probably a good time to updated the clutch to hold the new found power. We decided on the ACT Xtreme Duty Performance Street Disc Clutch along with the ACT StreetLight Flywheel. The flywheel is their 15 lbs version and I am glad to report that up to this point (~300 miles) I havent had any issues with the LW flywheel.

This weekend was Sacramento Cup Round 11 and 12. Took out the STI for its maiden voyage on the new clutch and could not be more happy. The ACT clutch and flywheel hold the power so incredibly well. I can finally feel all 400 ft/lbs of torque making it to the ground. Will upload the videos and pictures soon. For now, here's a quick IG picture from today's autocross. So reference the picture above for the following question.

Having issues with lifting the rear inner wheel when going around tight turns. I adjusted my dampening lower and that still didn't completely solve the problem.

I have heard from a couple autoXers that removing the rear sway bar will help. I was considering first going back to a stock rear sway bar before completely removing it. I am currently on a three-way adjustable Whiteline and I'm already on the "lightest" setting.

Another guy told me to remove the front sway bar because of the whole "opposite ends of a plank" concept. I feel like it will make my car way too sloppy and under steer a lot. Has anybody with a Subaru actually tried this?

A stiffer front bar will help with lifting the inside rear wheel, It will also make the car tighter so you could offset that with stiffer rear springs. Also a coilover with a longer down stroke would help. When you say you lowered the dampening, do you mean front or rear? Doing so to the front is only going to make it worse.

Whoever told you to remove your front sway bar..never listen to them again. It's the complete opposite. Try putting your stock rear bar on and getting a bigger front bar. What coilovers do you have? Are rebound and compression adjustments separate?

To fix the inside wheel lift, I removed the rear bar, but kept my front stock bar. But I also get most of my control with spring rate. I run 800f/950r lol

I have been doing a lot of test and tune with MASiPerformance and we lowered the dampening both front and rear (more in the rear). It helped a little but still picks up the inner rear wheel. I have a 27mm Whiteline front sway bar, I will have to check and see which setting it is on.

Seriously....it is some dude with an Audi and he was trying to tell me how to adjust the suspension on my STI... :nono:

I have the Fortune Auto 500s. So it has rebound adjustment but not compression. They also simply dont have a whole lot of down stroke which adds to the issue.

Ahhh so you aren't dead like people are saying on the forums :biggrin1: :crazy:

I actually breezed through your journal and saw that you too have success with removing your rear sway bar. I think that is the route I am going to go, since many people on here have suggested that as well.

I forgot what my springs rates are but i think its like 600f/550r. Maybe its time to up the rates, or maybe swap the front to the rear. I notice your rears are stiffer than your fronts.

Wow, with those tire you really need too be stiffer than that. Unless you are going for a big sway bars and soft springs. But seeing you are only running a 27mm front, it doesn't look like that is the case.

Well the car really started its life out as a daily driver. That is when the coilovers were purchased which is why those springs rates were selected. I think removing the rear sway bar and then upping the spring rates will be the next best step.
