Sato Fastest in First Winter Test...WTF??

http://www.itv-f1.com/news_article.aspx?id=44621

Takuma Sato did his Toro Rosso ambitions no harm by topping the first day of winter testing at Catalunya.

The rivals for the STR drive led the way in Spain, on a confusing day when the diverse packages being run by the teams made it hard to draw conclusions from the times.

Former Honda and Super Aguri driver Sato beat Red Bull-backed GP2 star Sebastien Buemi by 0.3s as the pair tried to prove their worth to the team, which has billed this week's test as a shoot-out for Sebastian Vettel's vacant seat - and possibly also Sebastien Bourdais' drive.

Alex Wurz was third fastest for Honda, while Bruno Senna and Lucas di Grassi - the two contenders participating in the squad's driver evaluation - were near the bottom of the list, although Senna was 1.2s quicker than his countryman and GP2 rival"

I saw that today as well, i don't buy into it at all. It's called silly season for a reason.

That will depend on whether Torro Rosso can find a driver who will pay to replace him. If not he'll probably keep his seat and partner Sato (noooo)

Oh, that too! NO on SATO!

They definitely need to throw someone young in there like Buemi or Senna

He's gonna have a hell of a job holding off Vettel as it is, now he's broke his leg he's going to miss all off the pre-season testing in the vastly altered 09 spec cars.

I think Vettel is going to get the better of him....that will be a feather in Vettel's cap.

Dish has BBC... I didn't even know BBC was going to broadcast it cause in the UK ITV does the coverage. That would be awesome if BBC were to cover it as well.

the 08 season was ITV's last season with F1. next year it's going to be BBC uninterrupted! i also heard they are going to try something that will change how one watches F1. rumors of multiple channels with in car views throughout the entire race. of course, we don't get that here.

Senna I think will get the Honda seat. He's been moving up fast. Even Ayrton said this guy was better than him. He was quick in the rain as well, so the name and money this guy will bring will be hard to resist.

But that's a poor car!

I'd like to see him in the Torro Rosso, which is a much better car than the Honda!

I hope not, Gagan. Brawn new car is what they will be running, not that sled they had this year.

Bruno was only .03 sec. slower than button on first test last week I think so he's already showing how quick he is. Compared to Button anyway.
