It's been a pretty entertaining race so far, although being an F1 n00b, I'm still blown away by Webber's performance in Germany.

What happened to the Brawn team though? They've been lagging since Silverstone

No Renault next month.

Renault will miss the next round of the championship for allowing Fernando Alonso to leave the pits with a wheel not properly secured during Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix.

A mistake attaching the front-right wheel at Alonso's first stop led to it coming loose from the car once the Spaniard had returned the track. He limped back to the pits but was subsequently forced to retire due to resulting damage.

Budapest stewards decided Renault had been negligent in failing to secure the wheel, in knowingly letting Alonso leave the pits with the problem, and in failing to inform their driver of the issue.

Renault are to appeal the decision. Should that appeal fail it means Alonso and team mate Nelson Piquet will not participate in the European Grand Prix on August 21-23

I'd say that's legit. Alonso wouldn't have raced anyway. He must have been pissed. He was gonna get passed regardless.

So stoked Lewis took it. Kimi 2nd. Good race. How 'bout that McLaren? Did you see how smooth it was? That car has done a 180. Good races comin' up. Spanish GP, looks good. And Spa right arond the corner...

I can't believe I missed it. I envy all who were able to see it. Unfortunately I get to read all about how the race went.

I think the penalty against Renault is a bit harsh...maybe a fine or moving them down the grid but to ban them from the next race is a bit much.

Glad to see McLaren and Ferrari running up front. Should make the remaining races that much more entertaining.

Didn't a driver a few weeks ago in another series die from a wheel flying off of a car and hitting him in the head? I thought they mentioned something about that during the race. In light of that, I think the penalty is appropriate for the negligence.

I wouldn't say they've been lagging since Silverstone. Look at the points. Redbull and Brawn have been trading licks all season. Things started to turn around for the other teams (Ferrari, McLaren) After the three week recess. The first five races of this season were a gimme for the "diffuser cars". Now that the new aero has been fitted. The KERS cars are in a prime position to steal points for the rest of the season. Webber is not too happy with the KERS. He was certainly happy when their chassi was fitted with a larger secondary diffuser and they were owning. Realistically speaking the KERS cars can pounce from just about anywhere on the starting grid. Kimi stated in 7th position and was up to 4th by turn one. Lewis fourth to 2nd. This season is going to come down to the wire just like last year.

some good news about Felipe. No Jeff, I didn't see the accident, but I was debating downloading the qualifying day and watching it.

Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo has said he is optimistic about Felipe Massa’s condition after visiting the team’s injured driver in Budapest on Monday. Massa remains stable in hospital following surgery on skull fractures he sustained in his qualifying accident at the Hungaroring on Saturday.

"I'm confident and optimistic about Felipe's capacity to recover, also because he has excellent medical care and I want to thank the staff at the AEK hospital for the work they're doing,” said di Montezemolo after meeting with doctors, as well as Massa’s wife and parents.

"It was a serious and incredible accident, but thank God this is a different situation compared to 1976 when I went to see Niki Lauda after the accident at the Nurburgring,” added. “We have to wait, but the signs are encouraging."

Massa was scanned again on Monday morning without problem and hospital officials have reported he is now able to move his hands and legs. The extent of reported injury to his left eye has not yet been confirmed.

"Our priority is the recovery of Felipe as a man,” continued di Montezemolo. “He has been with us for a long time and he is part of the family and not just of the team... We're all waiting for him at Ferrari and I'm convinced that we'll see him again in one of our single-seaters and that he will be again on top."

Although it looks almost certain Massa will not be racing at the next round of the championship in Valencia next month, di Montezemolo said the team would not be rushing into selecting a stand-in driver.

“I'm heading back to Maranello with (team principal Stefano) Domenicali, who will make suggestions how to substitute the Brazilian driver until he returns, which I hope will be very soon. We'll make a decision when the time is right, considering that there's a break of a month now."

I'm betting Kimi will be a force at Spa, car looks fast enough to be a challenge for Pole and Win there, and that's def his favorite track.

Lewis will be fast at Valencia with that KERS!

Heck yeah. Kimi's got some motivation too. He's realy been sand baggin' it for the last 16 races or so. Lewis, Kimi and Seb, are gonna put on a hell of a show. We gonna have a "Spa together" this year? I'd like to head up to the city and crash the SFF1 party for it.

But to be honest, I don't want Jensen as WC, so, I'm really rooting for Webber now, as he's the clear points leader right now for Red Bull to mount a charge against Jenson.

But it's interesting how this was the BEST race of the year so far, and it happened to be the one were 3-4 teams had fast cars, not just 2 or just 1.

Also, if Massa's eye is a career ending injury, I'm going to call it right here: Alonso WILL be a red car next year. There is no guarantee that Massa will have a full vision restored, and I hate to see him lose his F1 career this way, but I think it might be likely.
