What do those cameras that get knocked around like like...

...from the other side of the lens?

You guys know the ones I'm talking about. The camera that is always under-tire that gets knocked about like a ping pong ball when one of the WRC cars flies past it...

Are the cameras encased in a clear acrylic ball?

they're usually in a lexan cube. a ball would roll arround, but a cube can sit flat on the roadway. they're reinforced with what looks like aluminum. those things take a hell of a beating, and it kinda makes me wonder how many of those Speed goes through a season.

i'm not so sure that they actually live through the experience sometimes. i hit up google to try and find some pics of the actual cameras, but couldn't come up with the right search terms.
