Got a chance to check out the first round of the Global Rallycross Championship over the weekend out at Irwindale Speedway, CA. It's basically like watching a better organized X Games version of european rallycross. Big hitters like Marcus Gronholm and Michael Jernberg showed their skills in some 100% purpose built short track cars (that Skoda off the line was just unbelievable). While Tanner Foust and others battled to keep up. The Subarus in the field didn't have the best performances as mechanical problems in the earlier heats plagued both Dave Mirra and Stephan Verdier. Stephan's radically altered GD Impreza put on an impressive performance in the final round.
