I've got one of those around here somewhere too! Tall skinny one, with 4 or 6 of their print ads on it. I need to get it mounted and framed (I love vintage guinness print ads!)

Shenanigans! It all depends on how it is done and what it is for. I could definitely see that M&M shot used for a skittles print ad.

No the whole Macro segment is not really my thing, neither is landscapes nor weddings, or kids, or .....

I guess thats the difference between us. While I wouldn't do the M&M shot just for fun, as a graphic designer I can definitely see it's marketing potential. Now, things like close ups of bugs I find pointless for anything beyond the exercise of fundamentals.

And I have no desire to do weddings either. I would much rather work with hot models for commercial stuff than *****y brides and bridesmaids (already have to do that with my other job).

I would love to get the money from doing an all day high-end wedding event, but I don't want any of the stress or chaos or people wrangling or drunks or surprises.

I'll stick to commercial stuff, which is slowly picking up. No Portland, but eh.

Yeah that's true. My mom was telling me a friend of hers was getting a wedding package from Scott Campbell here in Monterey and it was about 10k for one wedding He does 1-2 weddings every week and he's completely booked for the next few months.

Yeah, weddings are bank. People pay so much because it only happens 2 or 3 times in their life. For $10k you gotta not miss a shot, and more than likely you're goin to be expected to be at both ends of the venue at the same time.

I was listening to a wedding photographer talk. Someone asked her about print pricing and she said "I don't care if they don't order any prints, I charge enough just for getting out of bed that day!"
