Has anybody installed a turboback + uppipe before?

I am looking at getting the Cobb turboback (w/cat conv.) and Helix uppipe for MY05 WRX sedan. Is this really difficult to install? I have never done any type of exhaust install before, basically the only things I have ever installed are my rear sway bar & endlinks, Kart boy short shifter & bushing, car audio, front & rear strut bar. If I wanted to install this myself are there any major tools that I would need (ie. torque rench, lift, welder.....). Does anybody know roughly how much it would cost to get this installed by a mechanic in the Seattle area? I really appreciate any information that you can provide.

Also, do you think that with this setup I will have problems with passing Washington state emissions tests?

You can do them yourself. The uppipe is a pain in the **** because you have to jack up the engine to get the stock one out. The turboback isn't too bad just plan to take a while on your first time. But if you want is professionally done go see Garret at worldoneperformance in West Seattle. He is a stand up guy and his crew does good work.

As far as emission, I dunno you wont have to worry about it for like 5 years. Also, now-a-days they hood up to your ODBII sensor in your dash so if Im not mistaken if you do not have a CEL than you are good to go. So save the money and don't get the cat, and get an accessport. Just my opinion.

Laters,
Dan

Yeah the T.B.E. is pretty easy , there is always a chance of having frozen/galled bolts and nuts though - even on low hour rigs. I would start hitting Fast. with penetrant oil before you pull off. And see if your 02 sensor is in a different place (hopefully closer in). Also WD40 your hangers before removal.

If your going to pay someone to do your uppipe you could probably throw $50 or so, and have them do your exhaust while they're at it.

UP install is a bit expensive if you have a shop do it.

Best to just "nut up" and do it yourself.

Instructions are on www.scoobymods.com

Use WD 40, 6 point sockets, new gaskets and lots of man juice like Dan.
