Okay, so then on January 31, 2007 I bought my Satin White Pearl 2007 WRX Sedan from Livermore Subaru:

I was the first one to test drive it and purchased it at mile 15. It came wingless and with no options added in, which is exactly what I was looking for. It took countless hours searching dealer inventories to find it, BUT I DID :)

and here's the money shot for you perves out there:

That same night, I drove home to sell my 2001 2.5RS to a son and father for his kid brother's 16th birthday present... but oh well it was a smooth day, buying and selling within two days of posting my RS for sale... and I got more for it than I bought it, which made it great!

Like I said earlier, RallyTard got lucky and inherited my AEM Short Ram Intake, Borla Catback, Version 6 STi wing, and some other goodies.

Here is a picture of his car after I sold mine:

It's practically my car reincarnated lol, but two door and even cleaner on the inside than mine was!

Well, going into the purchase of my 07, I knew the stock ride height was enough for my head to fit between the front wheels and the fender... so I set up an appointment at GST for an hour after I was going to Livermore to buy my car... by mile 45 I had modified my new car! It only took an hour and I was rolling on a moderately dropped 07 WRX. The springs I picked up at GST were the Swift Springs, soon to be replaced for a set with more of a drop like the Tein Springs.

So, over course... more pictures from that first day:

Now that I had purchased a new car and sold my RS, I HAD NO CAR PAYMENTS FOR A MONTH! So... of course after my break in (which took 3 days to go 500 miles lol) I used my paychecks to get some noise makers!

I ordered the Espelir JGT500 Catback Exhaust from Suby Dude by the third week of owning my car. It looked and sounded great!

I also went ahead and got my windows tinted, 35% up front and 15% in the rear. Here are some more pictures from the first few weeks with my springs, exhaust, and tint:

This time around I went ahead and devoted hours to learning how to drive my new car before pushing it. The hardest thing for me to get used to was dealing with boost in turns and during downshifts on the mountain course near my house. I really had to spend time getting used to my car and the weight transfer since it was a lot bigger than my RS. So of course my friends and I spent some time up at Berryessa:

Here's a picture of the Barnes and Noble Meet the first time I took my 07:

Within another few weeks of having my car I bought a Helix Catless Downpipe with insulating heat wrap for quicker spool up, from AdamBombSTi and installed it, so I had a complete Catless Turbo Back Exhaust System. The car felt great and the sound was amazing.

By this time I had also debadged my trunk and put in my GReddy shift knob, as well as installed a boost gauge with the help of a good friend, Allen (Double Helix).

I went out to Sac Raceway with him and got some pics of our cars. Here are some pictures of Allen and his 04 STi:

and myself:

The 1/4 timer was broken, so I only got clocked on a 1/8 mile with no practice runs. With TBE and no Engine Management I ran a 9.01 second 1/8mile, which was 0.01 seconds slower than our predicted time, allowing me to barely stay in my bracket and win the race.

Here are some more pictures taken around that time:

I spent countless hours driving our local mountain roads getting used to my car and learning to fight the understeer... Here's a picture of my car on the shoulder at the foot of the first hill going into our 8/10 of a mile, extremely twisty section of our course...

and some pictures after putting in my GReddy Front Strut Tower Bar, which makes it feel like I am understeering even more than before, but it was a gift... so it's staying on for now... just means I need a rear Strut Tower Bar and some sways lol, which is fine by me!

and here's another money shot at school (Sac State's parking garage):

Now we are getting pretty close to up to date with my story, so let's keep going!

I was lucky enough to pick up a Seibon Carbon Fiber hood scoop from an 06-07 carbon fiber hood after meeting someone at our big Fairfield BBQ and Drive in May. So here are some pictures from the BBQ as well as a link to my video of the drive from my in-car camera:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Js_oSlUX8DU

and my new carbon fiber hood scoop:

After picking up my scoop, I knew I had to work on getting engine management because I kept throwing CELS/Cruise Control with my TBE. So I ordered my Accessport V2 from GST and went to pick it up. Thanks to Greg and a friend, Nick, I got it installed before I left.

I loaded the Stage II 91 Octane Map and noticed an increase in power, but more of an increase in the smoothness of the powerband, which was well worth the money!

Then a friend of mine traded in his 350z and got an 07 STi, so here are some pictures of his car and our Barnes and Noble Meet:

I had been thinking about doing a trunk swap even before I picked up my 07, which is why I bought a wingless one. It was what I wanted and if I ever wanted an STi wing, all I would have to do would be to convince an STi guy to trade my trunks and become a sleeper!

Well just got my trunk swap done Saturday night, so here is a picture of our cars after the swap:

And here is GoodTimes' STi after the swap:

And my car as it currently sits, with the stock scoop back on (until I get my carbon fiber STi scoop painted) and with my new STi wing:

Alright, lets catch up!

Okay, so about a week ago I finally ordered some Whiteline Rear Subframe Lock Bolts after being advised to do so for about a month or two by Jon. They are amazing and really eliminate a majority of body roll.

And just yesterday I drove down to Freemont to visit Suby Dude!
I picked up a pair of 18x8 Rota Tarmac III's in Full Royal Sports Bronze, a sick ass color... I also picked up some Red Lugs while I was down at the shop.

Here are some pics:

So now I am just waiting on my tires, I am probably going to order the Azenis, but haven't completely decided yet.

Here is another recent HDR picture. It was photographed by my friend Eric who owns the 07 WRX in the middle and composed by myself, Eric, and Matt (GoodTimes). My WRX is on the left, Matt's STi is on the right. The photo was edited and merged into an HDR image by myself :)

Here's a Fourth of July picture of my car under the fireworks:

Alright, I finally got my tires on my rims and threw them on my car!!!

Thunderhill 07.27.07

05 TAILS FTW!

Alright, just got done with an interior swap. I traded with an 05 STi, only hard part was taking apart the two front seats and putting all my airbag sensors into the STi seats. Other than that it was easy.
We traded carpet, seats, doorcards, and floormats!

I also took the time to redo my I-Pod Jack and Cigarette lighter with my radar detector plugged in so I no longer have to keep my dash piece popped open to access them. I took the whole console piece apart and placed the units behind it, wiring the radar detector behind the dash, under the steering wheel and up to the window. I ran the ipod jack behind the dash as well and parrallel to the center consule and into the armrest where I have my ipod.

Thanks guys :)

I put my GFB Hybrid BOV on today. Got to love the whooosh.

Pic from the front with the sun lighting up the new seats.

Just bought an 05 STi TMIC and Perrin Intercooler Hoses :)

I've been contemplating it for months and I finally decided to go ahead and do it... so here it is:

and I've got the HVAC Vinyls coming from the guy on IWSTI so I'll post those up when I get them.

Nice. I think I need to do one for my L.

JohnQGearhead 05-24-2007 07:35 AM

Looks great. I actually traded in my BRP '01 RS for an '07 WRX that happens to be satin white.

tamashi523 05-24-2007 10:15 AM

great journal it's always nice to start one for memories, so whats next a bigger turbo? Rims? Or sti interior swap ;)

medicSTi 05-24-2007 10:41 AM

Yeah, It's almost been a year since I joined I-Club and bought my first Subaru, so I decided I wanted to throw my story in a thread. By this summer's Hammy, I am hoping for rims, probably just some Rota Tarmac's or something like that.

Some things to come in the near future include:
-putting my STi scoop back on after its painted Satin White Pearl (it's currently carbon fiber)
-rims like i said above
-grille delete

Additional things I would like to get in the near future:
-rear spats
-tein springs instead of my swift springs
-rear strutbar
-rear swaybar
-endlinks

Dude, I got my car at the same damn dealership, same color too. I purchased it last december with about 5 miles on it. And the funny thing is, I am planning on getting the same exhaust too, hahaha. How did the exhaust sound before the downpipe? Congratulations man and keep up the work.

Man, going from my RS with intake and exhaust to a stock WRX with NO NOISE made me feel soooo slow at first, but when I got the exhaust it was cool. It was relatively loud compared to stock, but I like it with full TBE a lot more! It's twice as loud as catback. :)
no future power mods?Id say throw a fpgreen on that thing ha
Well of course, just not in the near future. I'm still a full time student with a part time job ;) and a car payment can sure weigh the mods down lol.

Future Power Mods:
If I upgrade this summer it will be on a tight budget, so it would probably be to a stock 07 sti turbo and intercooler from an sti friend willing to let it go cheap. So a vf43 and possibly an STi topmount with intercooler sprayer if I do a turbo upgrade this summer.

If I wait, I will probably get a 20g, FPGreen, or a GT3071R with a nice high flow top mount.

I'm more into handling and response than power though. I would be content with 300-350 whp with a top mount. I really want to get more suspension parts and rims before power... plus that will keep me from being stupid late at night on the freeway... lol I don't need a car that tops out at 150, that's just trouble. I'd rather role around the mountains, plus dipability is higher in the mountain course if you see a cop lol.

great story! thanks for sharing :)
