Thanks. That's pretty much what we're going for. My wife refuses to drive it. Says it's too fast. : banana :
wow awesome build, deff going with the hybrid route also. Any particular reason you chose the vf-48??
Thanks. Primary reason is it's OEM. That, and Ed recommended it over a 16g. He's tuning it, might as well go with what he recommends. |

The woman really is spoiling me this year. My Christmas gifts:
In the middle of putting these on, out of nowhere the wife says to me: "So, what would we need to do to this to run E85?" Dear God, I love this woman. |
Sounds like a keeper!!
You just need injectors and a tune :D -- Ed |

Couple new additions for the New Year.
Replica STi strut tower braces: Front (hit with high temp paint) Rear (hit with trim paint) As much as I love chrome and pink, I think it clashed with the current palette. Much needed upgrade to the ICE: Pioneer APH-P1400DVD head unit (awesome deck with AM/FM/CD/DVD/iPod-iPhone-iPad integration) |

Fun little mod I did a few weeks back.
Switched out the 1156 sockets for double contact 1157 sockets. Amber single filament stays illuminated with park lights and second filament illuminates with turn signal indicator. Something different. |

Hey, kids!
Been kinda busy the last few months: Reman 2006 4/2 piston brakes, Stoptech stainless steel brake lines, Stoptech street pads, OEM blanks and, started out with ATE Super Blue DOT4, but ended up flushing most of it because I'm an idiot. Long story.. The wife and I have recently gotten into snowboarding so we figured we should get a rack for the boards: OEM crossbars, Inno Grabmax and fairing.. with stikrzz!!: |

Needs more low-end, though. Just ordered: a bunch of rubber bits. :biggrin1: : banana : |

Headed home from Detail Maniac.
|
Did LEDs in all the exterior lights and LED blinker module. Rear turns are NOT 7440, but some variant on a 1156. I made the 1156s I ordered work. Everything looks pretty good. I'll post pictures when it gets dark out.
I also added a bunch of driveline parts: -Perrin front and rear shifter bushings -TiC transmission mount bushings -Group N transmission mount -Kartboy rear subframe outrigger bushings -Kartboy rear subframe botox bolts Pain in the ass to do with only one hand. Still have the TiC rear diff mount bushings sitting on the work bench. Ran out of steam. If someone wants to come do these for me, I'll pay. :D |
Car looks good Rob...
|
Ive got TiC rear diff bushings too haha.
Wasnt sure if the whole thing had to be removed to get them in or not.. and was too lazy to search after I got out from under the car... So they've been sitting in my garage for almost a year now  |

I want to add the ones near the door ala:

APS inlet is in! w00t.
I would like to say it was easy, but it was still a pain in the balls. We were able to get it in without taking the manifold off. Pulled to power steering pump and alternator, and in it went with some finessing. After wresting with the BPV hose, we had to get creative with the vacuum lines (hence the line that comes up and over the manifold near the TB), but eventually got all in. No real change over the Perrin inlet, but.. there it is. Could not have done it without her. She keeps me sane: |
Right on!
If you have nothing to do.. shenanigans at my place 10am tomorrow :D |

Should have stuck with the Perrin inlet. I really don't like the hard inlets now that the current Perrins don't collapse.
Should have stuck with the Perrin inlet. I really don't like the hard inlets now that the current Perrins don't collapse.
-- Ed
Easy enough to switch them out. The Perrin inlet may go back in because of the spaghetti job I had to do with vacuum lines. LOL |

Yep and I really hate the transition at the turbo snout with the hard inlets. They up taking a pretty sharp turn there which is smoother with a full silicon inlet. -- Ed |
Switched back some stuff. Added others. Brembos going out for clean and rebuild soon.

Added K&N intake, Grimmspeed ported exhaust manifolds and hi-flow crosspipe, and headed over to FW.
From the tune and mild upgrades, we got a peak 308 whp and 320 wtq (+12 whp and +26 wtq from the previous tune plus K&N intake, Grimmspeed ported exhaust manifold and crosspipe). Many thanks to Travis and Snail Performance, and to the guys at FW Motorsports. |
UPDATE 2/24/2014
Punchline: Nothing lasts forever. I had a new 2.5 short block built and installed by FW Motorsports. Upgraded to an 11mm oil pump and switched over to Wiseco pistons, but largely similar components.. not necessarily the very ones used before, but similar. Got it back a couple weeks and have put about 650 miles on it with zero oil burned. Got the all clear and it was time to strap it to the dyno. Got some plus-key loving from Travis today. Playing with the boost controller had it up to over 330 whp and 375 ft-lbs peaking at 20 psi before the stock BPV started screaming "Uncle" so we brought it down to 18.1 psi and it made 307 whp and 350 ft-lbs. Gained 20 ft-lbs of torque bumping the boost about 0.5 psi but smoothed out some roughness after the build. Car feels phenomenal. [IMG]https://www.i-club.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=86910&d=1393284914[/IMG] Dat torque spike doe-- 110 ft-lbs in about 500rpm! Next steps: - Grimmspeed 3-port EBCS (been sitting on the work bench since Thanksgiving) - Turbosmart dual port BPV/BOV - ported and polished throttle body, intake manifold and TGV deletes (been sitting under the work bench since before Thanksgiving) - new wheels and tires so I can give Aaron his $3000 hose reels back - and EVENTUALLY a 6-speed swap |

Swapped in a 2004 (center tach) cluster with 52mm AEM analog boost and oil pressure gauges in a SMY cluster bezel. Had been sitting on the cluster swap for a little bit to swap over when the mileage was correct at around 75692. Pretty much plug and play except for having to tape over the light for the ABS. Swapped over the 2003 panel surrounds.. just.. because. The boost gauge install was perfectly straight forward. Unplugged the boost line to the old Lamco gauge, yanked all that out and inserted the new pressure sensor in the same spot. Ran the wire into the cabin and finito. The oil pressure sensor was a bit more involved, but pretty easy, as well. Unplugged the old dummy light sensor and removed it from the oil galley plug. Already had the 1/8" BSPT to 1/8" NPT adapter waiting from a previous purchase, Teflon taped it up and screwed it in. Started out with the new pressure sensor going straight into the adapter, but it stuck up to high and was rubbing against the alternator. Ran to the hardware store and grabbed a 1/8" NPT M/F 90 degree elbow. After more Teflon tape, threaded everything in and now the sensor sits perfectly in a little pocket in front of the coolant hard pipe. The electrical was a bit tricky for the gauges. I initially tapped the ACC line off the back of the radio for the switchable +12V source. However, due to the fact that drops to 0V when the engine cranks, it was causing the boost gauge to incorrectly auto-calibrate since it was trying to zero itself under vacuum after the engine had started. First few jaunts it was showing a peak boost pressure of ~27psi! S-POOLS! Undid that and tapped the IGN fuse in the fuse box and everything works perfectly. |

What worn out rubber things are those that you replaced? |
I enjoyed this thread.

I got the weld-on brackets and bolted them into the spare tire well. Cusco makes a front bracket so you don't have to do that, but it doesn't work with non-OE away bar mounts (I have Perrins). Other than that, drill two holes for the rear bracket and it all bolts up. Took me about an hour beginning to end.

Nice! I have that diffuser on my wagon as well. I also have a Perrin rear sway so I just drilled holes in the spare tire pan and installed w/ nuts and bolts. Got it for $20 off another Saabaru owner - couldn't pass it up! Looks like the autocross event was a good time! |

Yeah, quite a few. At least 6 or 7 each day. |

Hell of a deal. Diffuser, 3 front brackets (only used 2, rear bracket and all the hardware was about $100 shipped from SGP. Auto-x is always fun. You should bring the Saabaru out to the next one. |

There's an autocross in Stockton May 31-June 1 and one at Mather June 28-29.

Hey man, thanks for the info on the upcoming auto-x events. I won't be able to make those ones but I'll keep in touch at meets or something for future ones - I'd love to take the Saabaru out to one. Any requirement on cars that can participate? Would be fun to talk my dad into taking his MGB out. ha.
Also, your new pics aren't displaying for me. |

Autocross is wicked fun. And relatively safe. Safest motorsport event I can think of because, for most street cars, you rarely ever exceed 70mph and the worst that can happen is you run over a cone. Seeing an older car out there would be awesome. If you check the SCCA rulebook, it'll say what the criteria are for cars that can run. If they'll let a 40-something Dodge coupe out there, I'm sure they'll let an MG run. lol
Also, your new pics aren't displaying for me.
Yeah, facebook is finicky about hosting. I'll probably break down one of these days and open a flickr account. I'm still reluctant to open a webhosting album since webshots deleted all my pictures up through 2006ish without warning.
haha were these the one's for sale here not too long ago? thoguht about swoopin em up too
I was looking at just the seats from another guy when these, seats and brackets, came up and I couldn't not jump on it. lol |

I'd need to borrow one or rent one as I don't have a helmet. My padre and I just installed a roll bar on the MGB so I think he'd be more receptive to taking it out now. Ha, not that you'd roll a MGB in a parking lot auto-x. |

Helmet, for sure, but they have loaners. I'd bring head sock if you're borrowing. Seat belt or harness is needed, too. Other than that, I'm not too sure. That's all you need for a Subaru. lol I'd imagine anything without a roof would need a roll bar, but that's just me guessing. |
