pics of lowered 03-04 WRX with stock rims pls

I just sold my rims, but now I am thinking should I get rims again or suspension first.
but if I get suspension first, I would like to see how it would look like with stock rims since that is what I wil be riding for a while if I do get suspension.

DOHCammin 02-16-2004 05:14 PM

bump! I saw a pic a while back of a WRB sedan with tein flex coilovers on stock wheels. post them up!

AWDrifter21 02-16-2004 07:03 PM

Thanx guys, more pics if possible. Im thinking about doing this soon, but just want to check our other rides to see if I would be personally ok with just stock wheels.

So far looks pretty good.
As a side note, my damn PC video card and mother board fried. now I am using my MAC which i forgot to use..... MACs are great, but PC/Windows rule though!

tein has this warranty issue that says that you shouldn't mix match there product with aftermarket shocks because it was engineer to work with the stock shocks. I take more photos of it later

AWDrifter21 02-19-2004 02:55 PM

I don't understand TEINS warranty because the stock shocks are meant to have a certain travel to maintain its maxmimum potential

since you installed lowering springs, you decrease the travel of the shock tremendously by the 2 inches which will definitely lower the life of the shock.

let me do some research, but TEIN makes no sense on that

escaflowne 02-19-2004 06:44 PM

i'm also interested in the TEIN's information. it really doesn't make sense that we should keep our stock shocks.

Nice drop w/ the eibach kit.
Are those adjustable?
Any problems with being too stiff for everyday driving?

No, they're not adjustable. Advertised drop is 1.2" front, 1" rear.

The Eibach Pro-Kit is designed to work with the stock struts, so therefore they have only slightly higher spring rates than stock. The ride is only a bit rougher than stock, so it's well suited for a daily driver.

anyone know how much it would cost to paint the stocks wheels?
thats what i was wondering, are we talking powder coated wheels, or actually painted? and if painted, how much? :D

atf78 02-23-2004 07:10 AM

RupeDawgPSU: I've had my Eibachs on stock struts since May 2002 (~14,000 miles) and my stock struts are just fine. I will be upgrading to some KYB AGX's though this summer.

04 WRX Subie: I painted my wheels myself with regular spray paint. It's not really durable (my rims have quite a few chips and scratches after only ~2 months), but these are only my winter wheels so I don't really care all that much. Total cost for supplies was about $15 and it took most of a Saturday to prep and paint.

Powder coating would probly cost ~$75 - $100+ per rim, depending on the shop.

NewShockerGuy 03-29-2004 09:28 PM

Quick question to those with the Eibachs... I actually have Eibach pro spings on STI struts, they are not yet installed on my car... waiting about 1 more month, but do you think that is a good setup... would the ride be even stiffer than eibach pros with stock struts?

Thanks,
-Nigel

The wheels we get her stock are 17x7 (Australia)

Drop is 1.5inch (front and rear) using springs only on original struts.

Thanks much for the compliment :) I used duplicolor wheel coating but wanted to be 100% sure I wouldn't get any flaking. So took me 3 days to do, car was on jackstands the whole time. Basically I, washed and cleaned with liquid detergent. Wet scrubbed with a red scuff pad. Sun dried, then taped off the lip with 1" making tape. Sprayed one thin layer of primer and let dry.

Next day I put 3 coats of Graphite colored wheel coating 15 minutes apart and let air dry for about 20 hours. Put wheels in the bath tub and wet sanded with 400 grit sand paper to remove the clumps and splotches. Dried and recoated with 2 additional coats. After an hour and a half I coated with 3 coats of clear coat sprayed 10 minutes apart.

Let them bake in the direct sun on the 3rd day and put them on that night.

Here's attached a close up of it :)
