I'm looking for some also.. if we can get one other person we can buy the whole jug and split between us. That's about 7 quarts per person and roughly $54 a person.

 

Just buy the quality stuff, I went ahead and bought Motul 300 Tranny Fluid. It is one of the most recommended tranny fluids for the STi, not too sure if the wrx uses a different fluid or not. But it is much easier to shift when cold, and does not grind in any gear while casually shifting. Also Motul PA 90 is also another good Differential Fluid for the rear. Also not too sure if the wrx uses different rear diff fluid or not.

I get my lubricants and oil from lubrify.com ask for Benny (benny@lubrify.com), I am sure that Benny will be more then able in assisting you in what you guys need. If you guys do go through them make sure to mention me as a referral

Ahh glad you got the tranny fuid from Benny! He's a great resource and a good friend of mine. +1 for the Motul gear300. Has made shifting when cold much easier.

The Subaru Extra S 75w90 IS the quality stuff. Search around, nothing but positive things said about the Subaru Extra S.

 

btw, if you have a WRX (5spd / non-sti), DO NOT use synthetic. just use the regular 75w90. i tried redline synthetic once and it made it so hard to get into first gear. that stuff is NOT worth the money!

 

i have an 07 wrx with an 05 sti gear box, its a close call between motul gear 300 and extra s but i have a 5th gear grind problem, its been here since i had the tranny, and i read extra s helps reduce it

 

Anyone interested in committing?

Have you guys tried Livermore Subaru? They keep some on hand and I was able to buy from them by the quart when I did my tranny fluid last year. Not sure if that has changed though.

 

Thread revival, I called San Francisco's service location and they told me close to $300 for the 5 gal drum... Where can I find the whole thing for only $150?

 

u can buy them by the qt if u bring your own containers to livermore subaru, its 11 a quart

havent got around to it yet tho, might just put in new synchros instead of experimenting with a bnch of new fluids

Try contacting Kevin at AutoHQ. They use Extra-S for their transmission service and may be willing to sell it to you by the quart.

Fred Beans Subaru based out of PA (which I think used to go by the vendor name 5-Star Performance on NAZIOC) sold it by the quart for around $9-10.
