40 seemed a little tall (for me at least). The 35 side wall compared to my stock 205/55-16 was only .1 in. taller. The 40 side wall took that number to 1.1 in. taller causing the car to work a little harder with each rotation. I opted for the advice of the tire fitent guru, t3h_clap (Thanks!) and couldn't have been happier. The fender work was minimal, the ride was good and the rubber fit my needs.
