To buy, or not to buy?

Ready to sink $30K into my first STI. One option is a 2015 STI Limited, 17K miles, and a Stage3 Cobb tuned engine. My other option is to go with a stock 2016/17 STI Limited. Of course I want the modded STI, but I am concerned about dumping that kind of $$$ and possibly not getting warranty coverage. If I get a stock STI, I will ultimately end up installing similar mods after factory warranty expires. Need help deciding!!!

if you have fairly good assurance that the 16/17 is indeed stock, then i would definitely go with the stock and start from there.

my concern is that with the '15, that's already modded, that you are buying someone else's problem. Is it a ticking time bomb? unless you're best buddies with the prior owner, you really won't know what parts he put in it, WHO put them in, and how it was used since then.

TL;DR: Go Stock, unless you really know the prior modded car's owner and trust them. Quality of Parts, Quality of Install/Tune, Care during use...these are the questions.

I appreciate the feedback. Yeah, this is a dealer trade-in and all looks really good, but you’re right about all of the unknowns. Thanks again!

I agree with CHESTON. Go with an unmodded car unless you know the modded car's history.

I take it you end up passing on that deal, Bob? A wise choice, if you cound't verify all those things. Also, lol@Queeg9k's 6,666 posts at the time of writing this post.
