The Spontaneous Davis Subaru Drive @ Lake Berryessa - 10/27/07

PIX ARE UP!!!lsee below
So a bunch of us thought it'd be interesting to go for a drive to Lake Berryessa on saturday, and I've decided to organize the event.

Meeting time will be 1:00pm, so everyone can eat a little before we go out and drive. We'll be meeting at the North Davis Starbucks/Quiznos parking lot so we can fill up at the 76 (cheapest if you pay cash).

We'll be driving most of the Berryessa course that was driven during the last fairfield bbq (details will be posted later). If anyone's really good with these roads, please man up, or else i'll be leading at a moderately fast pace. Ideally, we'll keep this to a single group drive with the everyone at each others' tails. Please bring cameras as there will be picture/rest stops along the way at the dam, pope valley intersection, and bridge.

As per request to avoid getting tickets for retarded reasons, we wont be doing over 80mph on the long straights. This doesn't mean that we'll do the speed limit through the twisties though I'll try to perform passing slower cars as a whole group in order to avoid head-on collisions with oncoming traffic.

Reminder to everyone: Bring a bottled drink as the drive will be ~2 hours without any stops at 7-11. Also, make sure you go take your pisses at Starbucks or be prepared to wet some grass when we stop.

Cliff Notes:
Who: Subie owners in the area
What: Drive around Lake Berryessa
Where: North Davis Starbucks to Lake Berryessa, then back to Davis
When: Saturday @ 1:00PM
Why: Stress relief and fresh air

According to Google, it is about 110 miles. Should take around 2.5 hours depending on stops etc.

skip work!! haha jk

hmm i have the feeling that if you get off work at 3 (depending on where work is), by the time you get on the "loop" part of the course we'll be nearly done with driving the twisties. It takes about 30ish minutes to actually get to the dam.

i'll call another one of these within a month and i'll send notice out much more in advance. I just thought of making this thing official like 3 or 4 days ago.

from a local to you... you are crazy.... 1pm on a saturday??!!!

Youre going to hit ALL the lake traffic and its going to be really dangerous because of all the moutain road course bikers.

Our FFBN KR3W runs it between 8-10am and that's pushing it with regards to all of the traffic and bikers and the normal crap in the road. It's either real early or real late at night.

Be extra cautious and don't think your going up there to get a good mountain run in. you really won't be able to speed, even if you pass all the boats and trailers on double yellows. if you have like 4 cars youre okay, but anymore youre going to get stretched out and have to go soooooo slow.

*ps, the repaved part is ssssssssssaaaaaaaawwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeettttttt!!

Thanks for the heads up!
I don't think we'll be pushing the speed like crazy. I used to go around the spring time with my roommates on weekends and it wasn't that bad. We still got some good stretches of fun.

Next time - when i get more organized - i'll probably have it one a weekday. It's just us Students have midterms and such all too frequently.
