Possible caravan to the Ferrari Challenge - Infineon - 4/29/12
I threw this up in the Sac/Reno thread to see if anyone wants to caravan down with me and thought I would check in with the Bay Area peeps as well.

Yeah, they have several heats throughout the day. Qualifying for the main 458 event and several races mixed in with the F1 and FXX/599XX events. You'll see plenty of close racing with the 458 drivers too.
The whole thing is very low key and you're free to walk in and out of the pit garages most of the day. It's the most fun 20 bucks can buy. I've gone to the same event at Laguna Seca and Miller Motorsports Park in Utah and Infineon definitely does the best job putting it on. You could also spring for the VIP pass and hang out in the catered Ferrari tent but that would run you $120 I think.

When I was there a couple years ago, the 430 Challenge did run in the rain. The Historics didn't run at all during one session though, which I totally understand. It's a good event. I have to say of all the supercar owners, Ferrari owners are probably the friendliest. Going there just to see a former F1 car scream around the track is worth the price of admissions alone.

I ended up going on the other weekend day that year so I missed the rain. You're right about the owners and drivers, everyone is super cool. As for sound, I can't decide if the F1 cars or the XX cars sound better. Both are deafening. I was in one of the garages when they fired up a 599XX last year and it was epic.

So the schedule for the weekend was posted on the Challenge main page and it looks like everything will be rolling by 9am. The Sac crew will be heading out sometime between 7-7:30. That should give us enough time to get there.
If anyone wants to meet up there just let me know.

Quick update:
We'll be leaving the Natomas area of Sacramento by 7:30am and should be pulling into the track at around 8:45ish if all goes as planned. We'll be coming straight down I-80 if anyone in the Fairfield/Vacaville/Vallejo area wants to join up with us.

It's always been $20 the last 6 times I've gone. Basically you pull up to the gate and a track worker with a clipboard asks everyone in your car to sign a waiver in case a tire goes flying over the fence and then charges you $20 per person in your vehicle. Then he hands you the entrance ticket which includes parking.
