Car is acting up 250+ miles from home.

Had a rough/inconsistent idle this morning. Started it to go to the snow at 7:00 and stopped an hour in to get Starbucks. Turned it back on and it fluctuated from like 400-1000 up and down. Then I let it idle after it finally turned over and it worked itself out, made some different sounds but it eventually worked out the hiccup. Assuming it's just from the extreme temp changes? Then I limped it around an empty lot to make sure it was better and I threw it in 2nd and i heard an intense metal on metal pinging sound from the suspension. Seems to come from the rear, but only when I turn? Nooo idea what it could be, differential, CV, no clue. Gonna try to limp it home tomorrow from the Fresno area. Fingers crossed. Gotta make an appt at Subaru. Anyone have any ideas wtf caused these issues?

Don't worry too too much, could just be a sensor shorted.

Will record a video later

I'm assuming a sensor as well, it's had some long ignitions in the past but this one was more dramatic. Subaru will probably find nothing or say they didn't at least haha. Just curious about what the suspension issue was.

Sounds like you have a rock in your brake rotor. As far with the rough idle. Maybe your just not used to driving you car in colder temps.

Almost home, my car has done fine so far. Wondering what that knock from the suspension/steering was? I like your suggestion of a rock finding it's way into the rotor or something else. Just weird how it was only happening around 2nd gear when turning left.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas and was safe!
