The closest rally to the bay area and the only one in Northern California is coming on July 19th through the 21st in Mendocino and Lake Counties. This is the third year for the resurrected event and the previous two have been amazing! If you are a rally/WRC fan, please sign up to volunteer and get up close and personal with rally cars (plus get a free t-shirt)!!!

Volunteer work is generally pretty easy. There's lots of "standing around shooting the sht time", but there's also the flurry of activity when cars start coming into the control (if that's where you end up working). Basically, you'll be either recording times on a spreadsheet, writing times on the competitors timecard, or working a timing device.

It can be hot up there so make sure you bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and a big hat. I usually bring a big cooler with drinks and food, but they also provide Subway sandwiches to the volunteers.

Where is everyone staying? They say "Rally Headquarters will be at the Best Western El Grande Inn in Clearlake" is that where yall are staying?

I'm staying at my house (I live about 45 minutes South Ukiah). You're welcome to stay with me, but it'd be on a double/full futon and I've got two kids in the house (though they'd be asleep by the time we got back). If you'd rather crash at a hotel, I would definitely stay at the Rally HQ hotel as the after party will likely continue into the night at the hotel.
