9th Annual Redwood Rendezvous Road Rally Adventure Tour and Campout, yes it's been...

10 years since I bought my WRX, and with 308,000 miles on the odometer, I'll soon start taking it out exploring the hidden and remote reaches of Northern California in preparation for the 9th edition of the "R^4ATC".

The program will essentially be the same, (you can browse the history thread to learn more) although I would really like to find a way to start out farther north. While the Washoe House in Petaluma has been tradition, this time I was thinking maybe of booking a room Friday night in Garberville, so we can begin Saturday already up in Humboldt- opening up a lot more options for coastal and mountain roads we've never used before.

Date: September 30-Oct 2:

Friday Sept 30 Bay Area peeps can caravan (or not) to Humboldt County, this year the rally itself starts in Fortuna (about 20 miles this side of Eureka, roughly 210 miles from our usual starting location at the Washoe House)

Saturday October 1 we start in Fortuna at 9AM and, as usual finish the day at a campsite still TBD.

Sunday Oct 2 some may opt to do more exploring up north while others are free to head home- wherever that might be...

Next- Who is coming?

Entry closed last night, the list looks to include 6 participants which is more than I believe we have actually had run before;

eastbaysubaru (confirmed)
wrex006 (confirmed)
Gancherov (confirmed)
RALIWGN (confirmed)
vibhu (confirmed)
Gregg (confirmed by aboothman)

Sadly, we have several friends who wanted to come this year but had other things come up;

andyC
aboothman (nope-got called off on a fire...)
Huck
Bushido

And then we have the wall of shame- people who said they were coming then failed to reply when it came time to commit:
OneManArmy
SomethingClassy
APexAssasin

I sure hope everyone has a great time!
See you guys either Friday night or in the morning Saturday!

I'm still interested! I've finally graduated and I'm taking a year away from academia! I'm in assuming my work schedule doesn't eff me. If nothing else I'd love to join you for some of your scouting drives.

I'm interested as well. Any weekend will probably work for me, as I can request time off in advance.

As always Pete, I'm DOWN!!! I like the idea about starting further North too! There's a lot of roads I'd like to visit up there

I'll check my calendar when I get home tonight, but I'm pretty much free that entire period you mentioned AFAIK.

well... after doing some online research, perhaps Garberville isn't the place to stay Friday night, now looking at either Willits or Fortuna... although a few options between them might be OK, Garberville motels all seem to get some of the worst reviews I've ever read, yikes!

Ha! I'm sure there's something decent in Willits. Only driven through Fortuna, never really looked around.

I've been watching these redwood rendezvous threads for years and it sounds really fun, evo's welcome? I used to drive a STi FWIW.

About the only rule we have is that you need to be in a Subaru, so sorry...

I am finding what look to be some really amazing roads for this year, (provided they aren't gated off) first pre-check trip will probably be the 2nd weekend in August- so I'll post some pictures and maybe video after that...
