Citroen's Sebastien Loeb sealed a record-equalling fourth successive rally win with the third best time on the final stage of the Rally of Turkey. Peugeot's Marcus Gronholm was fastest on the stage but that wasn't enough for the double world champion Finn to demote Subaru's Petter Solberg from second place overall.

Gronholm completed the 33.35km Olympos stage two seconds quicker than Solberg with Loeb a serene third fastest, 10.3s off Gronholm's mark. That left Loeb with a comfortable winning margin of 59.6s and Solberg second with a 15.7s advantage over Gronholm. It's Loeb's fourth WRC win on the trot a feat last achieved by Timo Salonen in 1985.

Gigi Galli completed an impressive, but unlucky rally with fourth best time on the stage and takes one meagre point for eighth place from a rally on which he could well have been on the podium in the ever-improving Mitsubishi.

Ford's Toni Gardemeister and Citroen's comeback man Carlos Sainz were fifth and sixth on the stage to make sure of sixth and fourth places respectively, while Markko Martin in the Peugeot and Roman Kresta in the Ford made sure of their share of the points with eighth and 10th best times on the stage that secured fifth and seventh places overall
