Where do you buy your tires?

Please tell us where you buy tires for your Subaru.

Went to a Bridgestone shop to get RE-950's. A little more expensive per tire, but they had a buy 3 get 1 free deal. Plus no shipping and free rotation... the price came out to be pretty close to Tire Rack.

Costco. Their price can't be touched except possibly by another one of those wholesale/membership joints.

I bought my RE730's from Costco and I bought my Dunlop M2 Wintersports from Tire Rack.

Tirerack

I go directly to Tirerack in S.Bend since I only live 45min away.
It is always fun to see some cars going around their track and all the hot cars always parked there. Last time I was there getting my SO-3's there were 4 wrx's there.

Tire Rack - S03's were $150 each and at my local tire place they wanted $250 EACH (includes mount and balance)!

Cost to mount and balance them though is always around $20 each and it's still cheaper.

phatfil 02-17-2003 06:26 PM

my SO-3 (225/40-18)were 172+15 for mount and balance each. But I also got a free set of lugnuts for my subzero's that I carried in (bought from revolutions b4 the management change)

I use the local Big-O, but that's because the manager price matches, so I get Tire Rack prices but no shipping charges. 215/45R17 S-O3s will run me $165 each installed.

Here's the thing...

If you can find the tires you want locally for the same or better than the Rack. Then that's where I would go. I've purchased from the Rack and got the tires the frick'n next day. They shipped out of Reno so it was only a quick drive to Sacramento : )

Then one time I got a smoken hot deal at Tires for Less right in town.

For some reason the Firestone/Bridgstone dealers here in town want an arm and a leg for the S-03's so I got them from the Rack. But when I got my SP Sport 5000's Tires 4 Less had a better price and it was installed as well.

I went to the Merchants Tires in Woodbridge, Va. I got the Michelin Pilot Sports for 197.50 per tire, with the fourth tire free..plus free mount, lifetime balance/rotation, and road hazard ins. for extra $60...came out to like 694$ for the four tires..and...they stick like flypaper, wet/dry/snow..etc.

Yeah, I heard some HUGE chain/distributer back east was doing the buy 3 get 1 free thing. Otherwise, I hope those are 215/45R17s you got, since Tire Rack only want $159 for Pilot sports in stock size now.

Rapid_Roo 02-20-2003 09:16 AM

I have been buying tires from the same guy for over 15 years. He became my bud in the late 80's when I was running Yokohama A008Rs on my Celica, man did those tires stick but they wore out quickly. He can always get me a good price on the tires that I want.

If you are in the San Gabriel area. Company C Tires on San Gabriel Blvd. in Rosemead is a good place to go. Ask for Nefty.

Yeah. Sorry...forgot to mention the size...they are 225 45 R17's... I switched out to a 17" rim, shortly after buying the car...

I buy all of our tires from a local company called Tire Source or thru TireRack. Both provide excellent Customer Service and Racing Support. The Interactive Wheel System on TireRack is also tremendously valuable to show the customer what everything will look like on their vehicle. Another thing which is very helpful is the Survey Results for a comparison between tires available in the same size. Just my .02
