So is the 08 still a GD, or is there a new chassis designation for it?

Lost weight?!
manual: 3,192 (07) vs 3,142 (08) ?
sport wagon manual: 3,252 (07)

I don't like the idea of buying a new grille, tail lights and having to cover up that chrome as soon as i'd buy one... overall shape is 'ok' but danm that fugly grille...

I was not able to look up the VIN plate, but I am pretty sure it will be called GH for hatch and GE for sedan, following Subaru chassis naming logic...

You are right. I gotta check why they say it lost weight.

Personally, I am fine with taillights. Grill is kinda plain, but I am not worried about it.

I like it except for the grill, if CWEST makes a grill for it like the 002-03 V2 grills, id be all over that!

i read in subiesport that the G chassis code will no longer be used. maybe they just meant the GD? who knows. btw, anyone else think the rear looks a ton like the lexus RX350?

I am VERY glad I got my '06 WRX wagon. If I wanted a Daewoo or a Kia, well just kill me.

Thanks for bringing this new redesign to us, mate!

It looks like a glorified riced out version of the Mazda 3 to me. :\ The sedan reminds me of a Corolla or Elantra.

Can't wait to see the STi pictures though, and what it's putting out.

So most of us are hating on the front grill and the rear tail lights. I have to agree it makes the car look like... well sh*t.

What up sets me the most though is that they took the fender crease and put them in the middle like mentioned above.

Even with the 06/07 front ends that people didn't like (I did love it though) the fender crease kept some of the aggressive look and helped turn the car around for others after time. I think this mid crease will make me wait for the 2010 STI to see what it's like. Either that or go trade my wrx for an STI now and just take the lose on it but be happy for many years to come.

Wow, lots of hating

For those who feel the need to say it looks like a Mazda3 or Corolla, or a cross between them, or some bastard child of another unholy auto union, ok. We get it. You don't like it.

I disagree, I think this is the best looking Impreza since the last of the GCs. That has been a major reason I've held on to my 00 RS so long, I lusted for the drivetrain, but couldn't see buying an uglier car.

I love the extra wheelbase, I totally love the quicker steering, and I'm guessing with the improved aerodynamics the forecast is to break 30 mpg highway (MotorTrend quoted 10% better fuel economy).

You don't like the way it looks, fine don't buy one. But don't act like Subaru somehow betrayed you by putting out this, um, let's see "better in pretty much every demonstrable way over the previous version" vehicle.

I likes it

Standard Impreza 5 door is supposed to have red tail lights while the WRX 5 door gets the clear lights.

First required swap can be done....now...about that grille.

I really don't like the grill on the hatchback, reminds me of a chrystler. the hood scoop looks likes the saab one. The rear reminds me of a civic or mazda hatch. I like the sedan though, it looks like a cross between a bmw and a tl.
