JGTC CUSCO Advan Impreza 2003 model shakedown

3/15-2003 Fuji International Speedway
The second JGTC testing of the season was held in Fuji from 3/14 to 3/15. CUSCO missed the first day of the testing but they managed to put together the car and in the second day, CUSCO showed up to the circuit with their brand new JGTC machine.
The biggest change from last year's machine is that the transmission is mounted in the rear, which makes the weight balance significantly better.
They completed the shakedown test with no major problems.
First race of the season is from 3/29 in Ti circuit. Let's hope they'll finish on the podium.

I always love this testing in the beginning of the season.
Unpainted carbon fiber body is beautiful
Can't wait to see the pics your buddy's got.

Man, that roll cage is so small. They are trying to keep the mass as close to the center of the car.

Wow.. Nice.. Lets see how it competes with the rest of the GT300 class.

The GT300 class is a jumble of cars.. The Silvia, the MR-Ss, Vipers, etc. The best that Subaru did that I ever recall was 3rd or 4th and that was like thrice. Lets see if the "Shin-sha" can turn it around!!

Are they using the new model or are they still on a modded version of last years GT300 racer? I also wish they had tried to put in the 2.5l. But, I think that the car has to be JDM right?

I believe it's a brand new car.
regulation has changed significantly this year and now the impreza has transmission in the back.

Other cars has changed a lot too.
NSX has engine mounted longitudinally this year and Supra has V8 NA instead of inline4turbo. It makes me wonder if they are testing out next generation Supra engine....just my thought. GTR has V6turbo..hmm

350Z has entered GT300 this year and it was the fastest car in the test. Other rivals in GT300 are MR-S, Viper, ARTA Garaiya, Vemac, Porsche, RX7, M3GTR, and Mosler.

Did they put a transaxle in the back, and run a torque tube to the motor, like the Porsche 944 and the new 'Vette?

It's RWD, right?

Did anybody else watch the video on JGTC's website? They said that they plan to bring a race out here to the West Coast in 2004. I hope so, I would love to see these cars in person going at it.
