Ali Afshar and the rest of the Subaru/SPT/ESX team are heading for the bright lights of Las Vegas with winning in mind. Unlike most visitors to the gambling center of the world Afshar isn’t looking for lady luck to smile on him in the casinos. The only strip that he is interested in is a quarter-mile long and the only winning he is interested in at the race track, the scene of this weekend’s NHRA national sport compact drag races.

“”We are ready to get back into action again.” Afshar commented.

“This should be a great event. We know that it’s going to be hot and we know that the competition is gunning for us but we will be doing our best to put on a great show for the fans. We are facing some really tough opposition at this race but we will be doing our best to beat the odds. The races are being held on Friday and Saturday night’s and we expect a great crowd. Vegas is all about fun and my idea of fun is blasting down the quarter-mile so I’m eager to get behind the wheel.”

The Strip at Las Vegas is one of the nation’s newest racing facilities and is a favorite among the pro ranks. “The heat and the altitude certainly have an affect on the tune-up but we are confident that we can be in the hunt right off the trailer.” Afshar said. “This event is almost a local one for us as we are only a few hours away from our base in California. Hopefully we will see plenty of support for the Subaru/SPT/ESX team and the red WRX. As usual, we will welcome any Subaru fans and owners who want to visit with us in the pits and check out our cars, pick up a poster or just hang out and chat.”

The weekend’s festivities will be kicking off early on Thursday night when the NHRA will be hosting a pre-event party at the Hard Rock Casino. The Subaru/SPT/ESX WRX will be on display and Afshar, along with many other pro-racers to meet and greet the fans. The fun starts at 4.00 PM and the party will be going on until 10.00PM.

“This is a great way to start the weekend and promote the event.” Afshar said. “We get to meet lots of fans and in a town that is full of entertainment we have the chance to encourage the fans to come out to the track and see what our sport is all about. Having the Subaru/SPT/ESX WRX on display at the Hard Rock Casino is also very exciting. People are always surprised to see how close our car is to the cars that they drive every day on the street.”

The racing action starts with qualifying sessions on Friday night at 6.00PM thru 3.00AM and will continue on Saturday evening with the final eliminations.

they have blown the rigoli motor up and had to rebuild it

im assuming the specs we are looking for would be... turbo, ic, injectors, exhaust, engine management etc. etc.

FMIC ESX exhuast motec mangement a pretty big NOx shot, an auto tranny slicks fully stripped interior almost an 02 or 03 chasis with 04 sheet metal, a tony rigoli motor out of australia,and thats all i can remember off the top of my head

It still cracks me up that it's just on 02 reskinned to look like an 04. I guess when Subaru signed on they made them change to to better reflect the current line. Look closely though, it would appear that they forgot to change the side mirrors. :p
