Such a thing as too much claybar?

I've heard that claybar'ing can be hard on your finish when over used. I've also heard that you can use it as often as you like.

I'm guessing that as long as you always protect (seal/wax) after using a claybar, its OK to use as often as you like. True or false?

How much are you using the clay bar? I live in Md. and I only bar about twice a year. Unless you are driving somewhere where there is a lot of debris (for lack of a better term) in the air you don't need to do it that often. As long as you have a good coat of wax on you should be straight.

False, claybarring will remove crap thats on your paint, oxidation, embeded road grime/salt, it will also remove a tiny layer of your clear coat to reveal a smooth fresh layer, so the more you do it, the more clear coat you lose, the worse off your paint is. I really doubt that you can gather so much embeded road grime, and oxidation shouldn't be an issue at this time for your paint. So there really is no reason to claybar your car very often, unless you drive like 100,000 miles a year.

one thing that can hurt it, if you do it to much, is if you forget to fold the bar in. The embedded particles that the clay captures can be nasty if you don't remember to fold it into the bar again.
