Are the regular wrx wing and the sti wing interchangable? Do they use the same mounting holes, etc.? I'm taking a serious look at an STI but I'm not really crazy about the gigantic wing. I like the regular wing since its not so high plus I like the idea of mascarading as a regular wrx. I was thinking that if it was, I could have the dealer swap it with a regular one. Thanks.

 

removing the stock STI wing will void part of the warranty, it actually has a functional wing, therefore anything having to do with the loss of control of the vehicle (because of the removal of the wing) will not be covered by the warranty.....i sell subaru's so if anyone has anymore questions feel free to ask.

 

The deck lids could be swapped, but there are many more holes that bolt the STi spoiler up than a regular WRX.

 

Dude!!! What in the heck are you talking about. What is there for a warranty possibly cover? What....will the control arms bend or wheel bearing prematurely wear because there is no wing? Think about what you just said and see if it makes any sense.

 

i sell the damn cars........if you lose control of the vehicle not because of any disfunctional parts and the wing is removed, the warranty will not cover the repairs

 

1. No wing has any affect below 75 mph, traction is dictated by mechanical grip at low speed, not aerodynamics. 2. Nowhere in the USA can you drive over 75 legally, and no manufacture is going to warranty a car that you were driving well in excess of most speed limits when you loose control. 3. The wing may provide some downforce if it didn't flex so much, but most is lost deflecting all the downforce when it flexes. 4. No manufacture warranties any part of the car due to damage from loosing control. 5. The only place that the wing would give any help would be lateral stability on the staightaway of a race track due to the vertical supports, and no manufacture warranties any part of the car due to damage from racing. 6. Your an idiot and know nothing about the car you sell. Sorry for being so harsh, but don't try and push salesman BS in here. You get three monkeys

PS exactly which part of the warranty does it void? The suspension, engine, what? What could possibly break on the car due to removing the wing, unless you wreck the car and again Subaru will not cover any repairs due to you loosing control and wrecking your car. I know it must say so in the head up your @ss section.

They also revised the rear sway bar and I think rear shocks. The problems were isolated to europe where people routinely drive at high speeds. Most of them died at 130 backwards into a wall. Audi settled some suits and revised the cars for all markets. No such problems were noted in the USA. Club racing would have been the only place you'd have see the problem, but SCCA bans forced induction cars from comp. Not sure about other sanctioning bodies. These situations wouldn't be covered by any for of liabilty in the USA due to one situation going doulbe the speed limit and the other being racing.

 

If you wreck one of these at the speeds that the spoiler truly works, then there won't be enough pieces to figure out whose fault it is and the driver probably won't be involved in the discussions.

I remember Porsche releasing numbers on the circa 1980 Turbo Carrera whale tails as loading upwards of 800-900 lbs to rear of car at around 120mph. (approximate #'s from a used memory)

You sound even more ignorant with that statement. Since when has warranty covered repairs due to a crash? It's called INSURANCE not warranty. And yes, insurance will cover repairs.
