hair dryer or heat gun to soften the adhesive - be careful though not to use too much heat.

dental floss or thin fishing line to remove the letters - do one at a time.

goo gone to remove the excess adhesive.

wax.

The way I did it was with a rubber spacula then with a tool called a eraser I attached it to a air gun and erased all the goo right off.

WD40 should work well. Just make sure to clean it up thoroughly and give her a nice wax when you finish.
