i have Benz HIDs in my Morettes, you will not have to worry about them melting at all, also the bulbs that come in the Morettes are H7 low beams and H1 high beams

also about the DRL question. once you put the HIDs in you will have to disconnect the DRL unit behide the glove box, i can explane it better if you need to know

Yes you have to disconnect the main DRL module to get rid of the DRLs permanently if you install HIDs.
As for the plastic melting you have nothing to worry about in any case, it is high-temp stuff and will hold up no matter what (it has to withstand direct sunlight in the summer, right? Much hotter than your lights.) Besides, HIDs actually generate LESS heat than the original halogens. They generally operate at about 35 W compared to 55 W for regular bulbs.

HID's, there are Hella, PIAA, Westinghouse, and many more...don't "just" change the bulb (H3, H4...) in the old fixture, get an HID fixture for proper light dispersion.
