HID's not bright enough. please help.
i have an 05 saabaru 92x with the premium package and that has the oem HID lights. however, ever since i grew into the car, i noticed that the lights arent actually all that bright, in fact, when driving spiritedly i feel like i easily outdrive my lights if i dont turn on the highs, something i didnt expect with HIDS. i beleive the stock unit uses a 9005 bulb, but is it possible to simply swap in a higher temperature bulb to try to remedy this problem? or do i have to convert other things to support higher power draw or anything? i really dont wanna have to go to an aftermarket setup, so thanks in advance for your help.
There should be no reason to replace the lights with aftermarket HIDs or even to change the bulbs. They are not 9005 which is a halogen bulb type (your high beams may be this type), they would be either D2S for projectors or D2R for reflectors. I'm not sure which kind of lights the 9-2 has. You will not gain any lighting performance by installing higher color temperature bulbs, actually quite the opposite. The OEM HID bulbs in any vehicle so equipped are 4300K which is the optimum for usable light output, anything higher has more blue content and glare, and less usable light.
It's possible there is something not right with your lights, they might not be aimed properly or the HIDs might not have full output for some reason. You could have your dealer look at them, and also compare the lights on your car with those on another one.

Also, you might need to adjust the headlight angle of output so that it is at the setting that provides the longest light pattern. If the setup is like on the STI, there should be a switch on the dash near the steering wheel stalk to adjust the headlights with.

yea, if i drive fast i raise the lights, but raising them makes them less intense and they dont project that much further. ill have to compare the beam intensity with another saab sometime. thansk.
my friend has the 92X as well and at first the HID start off really bright once the car is started but then it turns yellow like the halogen as the car runs. He had the car for 6+ months now and he was telling me that the HID seems to be brigter.
