STi V-limited front lip for 04 and up imprezas, creates front end downforce, decreases lift at speed, etc.

Here's the front lip on my car that I just installed a couple of days ago. Wow, the car is so much more stable now going 100mph+, the car used to shake and tend to get blown by the wind, not anymore. Other lips that are functional: prodrive lip, they actually wind tunnel tested those. STi Lips are also functional as well as the OEM kits. Basically most of the front lips are functional and and not only there for aesthetic reasons.

hey nice lip, yeah i wanted to pruchase the kaminari lip, but i also want some function out of it, so i was thinking if someone would say kaminari. i was thinking it might be cause the of the carbon fiber splitter, but that might just be for looks.

Most Japanese and European aero kits usually serve a more than just aesthetic purpose. Like others said, STi and Prodrive are good choices, as are C-West and most of the big, perfomance-oriented Japanese companies (avoid companies big on aesthetics like Veliside and Bomex ). However, I hate to break it to you that most American companies, Kaminari included, don't design and engineer their aero parts for functionality. Their main goal is just aesthetics.

The Kaminari lip looks very similar to the STI v1 lip. I have no doubt it's doing something, especially if you have the CF splitter installed.

Too much rear downforce can be bad (ala Prodrive's rear wing without it's front lip installed) but I assume a bunch of front downforce is all good, right?

It probably will never happen for daily drivers, but I've heard stories of race cars spinning out from too much front end downforce. Also, it affects straight line acceleration at (ungodly_ high speeds.
