Driverside window squeak
Anyone know how to get rid of a loud, short, squeak(!)
when the driver side window is opened/closed? It squeaks even if the door is opened. I never had this problem until just yesterday. I am not sure where the squeak is coming from. Just to test, I put a very light coat of wd40 on the window (with a papertowel, ofcourse) around all rubber...seemed to improve it a little, but still have the squeak. Thanks, ken |
It's a fairly common problem, just make sure the window edge and rubber seal around the door frame are clean (some heavy wiping after a wash helps a lot). Some people use silicone lubricant but it wasn't necessary for me.

actually, it squeaks even with the door open...meaning, no rubbing of the rubber seals round the door trim. :(
its got to be some rubbing inside the door or on the rubber seals on the door itself...........hummmmmmmmm... come to think of it, it started squeaking after i washed the car and dryed it completely... |
Ya same thing here, I brought it to the dealer because it was so annoying. They told me that SOA had told them that its some thing that just needs to be worn in any adjustment they could make to get rid of the squeak would induce wind noise. Which to me I whould be worse. I found LPS 2 (like wd40) works pretty good.

its a very common problem. everyone seems to have the squeak. i have it too. next time you wash your car, try cleaning the the black rubber area where the window rolls down.
:D |
I had the same problem. All you do is get some silicon lubricant and spray it generoulsy inside your door. Just bend the seal a tiny bit and just spray while going up and down the door.
|
guys, thanks for your input. :D glad (?) its a common problem.
but today, it stopped squeaking. :) i think the dab of WD40 finally entered the area where it was causing it. |
I wouldn't use wd40, it might screw up the rubber trim. Use a silicone lubricant and spray the rubber edge at the front of the door (the black triangle part the window goes into when up, on the door (if that makes sense)). I had the same problem especially when wet and a quick shot in that area solved the problem for six months now.

Unfortunately I don't drive enough or roll down the windows enough for them to "wear in" gracefully, so I might be stuck with this problem for a while. Might look into the silicone solution.

on my window, its not the triangle area but the area closer to
the back of the door on the inside. it started squeaking again after washing it. cold weather + car wash = window squeak? hehehehehe... |
