just get some adhessive remover stuff and you are set
not much too it, just peel it off without scratching the paint, remove excess adhessive then polish and wax that area and you are done

i did this just the other day on my 02. Here's what was most effective for me:
1. Heat up the letter one at a time with the hairdryer for a minute or two.
2. Use a credit card and start from one end and seperate the emblem from the surface (should be easy). You'll be left with some adhesive on the paint.
3. Peel off the remaining adhesive with the credit card or fingers. Use some goo gone and apply it to the excess adhesive. Rub it on with one side of the towel and keep rubbing until the adhesive is gone (be patient). I figured the clean side works better to take off the adhesive.
4. After the goo gone, you should notice the paint where you worked on is different from the rest. Claybar the area if you want, then apply a coat of wax.
Repeat process for each emblem, it worked out great for me. The dental floss didn't work out too well since i find it flimsy. Good luck

www.scoobymods.com has all the details
Also, is there any way to rememedy the discoloration of the paint under the letters?

I used to work for my dad's deatiling company and we always used some nylon fishing string and bug & tar remover. The nylon fishing string does a good job of getting the emblems off w/o scratchig the paint, and the bug & tar remover gets the sticker gunk off. The b&t remover takes off most previous coats of wax too, so you might want to put a fresh coat down when done.

Bring it to my house and I can help you out. Just pick up some bumper sticker remover. Stuff works better than googone. I live in SJ btw. I've debadged an 02 Black, 03 Blue, 04 Blue STi, 04 White STi, and a 1993 Black Chyrsler (don't ask..) hehehe.
